A highly original example of 4.3L V8 C43 AMG version of the respected W202
Presenting very well with a full respray and wheel refurbishment in current ownership
Complete with stacks of provenance providing paperwork
The Appeal
The Mercedes Benz W202 first hit the roads in 1993 to become the first iteration of C-Class. A successful model which was the entry level saloon until the A-Class arrived in 1997. For the 1998 model year Mercedes Benz released the C45 AMG as the flagship C-Class. The C43 was the first AMG car to be fully built in-house at Mercedes Benz following their acquisition of AMG in the same year.
This example has clearly been cherished by its owners judging by the extensive paperwork included with the car. In its current ownership it has benefitted from a full professional respray and plenty of key preventative maintenance. The 4.3L V8, 300bhp plus engine was a real statement of intent for future AMG cars and makes for a highly sought after modern classic saloon today.
The History and Paperwork

The car then passed through the hands of four owners between then and 2015
In June 2015 the current owner acquired the car to become its fifth owner
On acquisition the owner had the car resprayed and the wheels refurbished
He also had the car fully serviced together with a gearbox service
He also attended to some niggles such as a noisy heater and misbehaving wipers
The owner then used the car as daily transport for around three years
He has added only around 11,000 miles in his eight-year tenure
This included a two period with the car registered as SORN as another car was used
The car was put back on the road in 2022 after a £1,000 recommissioning
There is a substantial amount of paperwork on hand
This includes the current V5 registration document
The C43 currently holds an MOT until February 2024
This is an advisory free MOT

An impressive 300 Ib-ft of torque was also on tap
Power is fed to the rear wheels via a four-speed automatic gearbox
The configuration was originally good for a 0-60mph time of under 6 seconds
This was on the way to a top speed of around 160mph
Judging by the paperwork the car has clearly been well maintained
The service book will attest to this with services documented up to around 90,000 miles
The sometimes-temperamental gearbox has been a focus
It was refurbished by the previous owner and serviced again by the current owner
It is reported as fully functioning and appropriately smooth
A non-standard, non-cat exhaust is currently fitted but the original AMG item is included
A full recommissioning service was undertaken last year

Summary
The C43 AMG is a highly capable, luxurious and practical modern classic saloon. As a huge added bonus, it has a 4.3L V8, 300bhp+ behemoth of an engine nestling under the sleek bonnet. It is a subtle looking car by today’s sometimes overly “overt” standards. This is definitely an AMG of the “covert” variety and all the better for it. There is just enough brooding road presence on offer to hint at the latent performance potential of this practical sports saloon.
This example is a well-cared for example in the right colourway that ticks all the boxes. The delightful black / silver leather interior is a definite highlight along, of course, with that exceptional engine and rumbling V8 exhaust note. The owner attests to the car running beautifully, sounding amazing and turning many heads. This is likely to be an appreciating modern classic that deserves your attention and your bids.

About Max Bids
The max bid process allows you to bid without any hassle.
Enter your maximum bid and we will then bid on your behalf to ensure you're the highest bidder - just enough to keep you in the lead and only up until your maximum.
Anti-sniping
C&C prevent auction snipers from bidding in the last seconds to win an auction.
Auctions are extended by 3-minutes if anyone bids within the last 2 minutes to allow other bidders to react and counter-bid.
Auto-bidding increments
If your maximum bid is equal to or below the reserve price, your maximum bid will be applied in full if you are the highest bidder.
If you are the highest bidder and place a maximum bid above the reserve, we will automatically put in the reserve as your first bid.
Once the reserve has been met, Car & Classic will make sure you are the highest bidder using only the bidding increments stated below.
We will keep you in the lead up until your maximum bid OR the increment closest to your maximum bid, providing your maximum bid is enough to cover the increment value.
