1999 Porsche 911 Carrera Tiptronic (996)

  • Family owned from new
  • Original condition
  • 3.4 litre flat-six

The Porsche 911 (996) Carrera is a fantastic car that appeals to a wide range of people. The 3.4 litre flat-six engine delivers 296bhp, which gives excellent performance and is also quite economical. It’s stylish, powerful, and currently outstanding value for money and the cheapest way into 911 ownership.

This 911 has been with the vendor for just a few months. The car came from his uncle's estate, and although he loves driving the 911, it doesn’t fit in with his daily commute and lifestyle.

The car benefits from a recent service, waterpump and some exhaust work. This is the perfect car for anyone wanting to step into classic 911 ownership at an affordable price.

  • V5C is present
  • Registered 3rd March 1999
  • The vendor's uncle purchased the 911 from new
  • Owners manuals present
  • Service book is present and shows nine stamps
  • The most recent service was carried out on 4th April 2023
  • The current MOT is valid until 30th March 2024

  • Specced with grey leather
  • There is a small amount of colour wear to the driver’s bolster and a small area on the passenger seat, in keeping with the age and mileage of the Porsche
  • Electric and heated seats with the driver's seat having the memory controls
  • The leather dashboard is in good condition with no scuffs or damage
  • The instruments work correctly with healthy oil pressure, and the odometer reads 152,485 miles
  • Fitted with the factory head unit and a boot-mounted CD multi changer
  • All the switchgear appears in good condition and is reportedly working correctly, apart from the air conditioning, which no longer blows cold. This has not been investigated, and the passenger window doesn't go up or down. The motor can be heard when the switch is pressed
  • There is some wear to the leather handbrake cover and also the bonnet catch, which is positioned on the sill
  • Headlining is clean and tidy, with no sagging
  • The carpets are in good condition and have a set of Porsche mats fitted
  • Inside the boot has the space saver spare wheel, the original tool kit, jack and warning triangle

  • Finished in the original colour of Zenith Blue
  • The paintwork does have some age-related chips and scratches
  • There is some corrosion present on the lower edge of the engine cover
  • Shut lines are nice and straight with an equal gap, and no noticeable dings were spotted
  • The windows appear to be in good condition, with no noticeable scratches
  • Window seals are generally in good order; there is a small amount of shrinkage on the rear window seal
  • Headlights are free from any splits or cracks. They have discoloured slightly but could easily be polished using one of the available headlight restoration kits available
  • The rear lights are damage free. There was a small amount of condensation in one of the units
  • Original wheels have some age-related marks, but it wouldn’t take a great deal to have them refurbished
  • The tyres have a good amount of tread remaining

  • 3.4 litre flat-six
  • Five-speed Tiptronic gearbox
  • The engine fires up without hesitation, and no smoke was seen
  • The vendor reports that the car runs as it should with no issues
  • The Tiptronic gearbox has a smooth change in fully automatic mode or using the steering wheel buttons
  • A new water pump has recently been fitted
  • Sport exhaust tailpipes
  • Front discs and pads have been replaced, and bring the 911 to a stop in a straight line

This is probably the cheapest way to own one of Stuttgart's most famous model Porsches ever produced… the fantastic 911.

The car runs great, the interior has faired very well, and while the body does have some chips and scratches, a cosmetic refresh would turn this 1999 911 Carrera into an even better modern classic Porsche.

About Max Bids

The max bid process allows you to bid without any hassle.

Enter your maximum bid and we will then bid on your behalf to ensure you're the highest bidder - just enough to keep you in the lead and only up until your maximum.

Car & Classic prevent auction snipers from bidding in the last seconds to win an auction.

Auctions are extended by 3 minutes if anyone bids within the last 2 minutes to allow other bidders to react and counter-bid.

Auto-bidding increments

  • If your maximum bid is equal to or below the reserve price, your maximum bid will be applied in full if you are the highest bidder.
  • If you are the highest bidder and place a maximum bid above the reserve, we will automatically put in the reserve as your first bid.
    • Once the reserve has been met, Car & Classic will make sure you are the highest bidder using only the bidding increments stated below.
    • We will keep you in the lead up until your maximum bid OR the increment closest to your maximum bid, providing your maximum bid is enough to cover the increment value.

Bid Amount Increment
£0 to £9,999 £100.00
£10,000 to £49,999 £250.00
£50,000 to £99,999 £500.00
£100,000 + £1,000.00

Automatically outbid immediately

When you place a max bid and are outbid immediately that means that another bidder has placed a max bid limit which is higher than yours.

You can bid again and we will use our automatic bid system to try and get you as the highest bidder.

Matching max bids

When there are two max bids of the same value, the one placed first remains the lead bidder.

What are pre-bids?

A pre-bid means you\'re able to place a bid before the official start of the auction.
You will be notified whether or not you are the highest bidder when the auction starts.

Problem with your bid

Bids are contractually binding. To help protect you, we have some rules in place if we think it's been mistyped. Please check and amend what you have entered.
