1999 Rover Mini Cooper 1.3

Highlights

  • Extensively restored 2010-2012
  • Good condition throughout
  • Britain’s favourite little classic car

The Appeal

One of the last old style Mini Coopers, with the SportPack, in good all-round condition, that is going to be a blast to own and drive.  Quick off the mark and representing one of England’s favourite little classic cars there’s a place for the Mini in every motoring enthusiasts’ heart.

The History and Paperwork

  • First registered in 1999
  • Extensive renovation between 2010 and 2012
  • MOT expires April 2023
  •  V5c present
  • Many tax discs
  • Part service history
  • Invoices for renovation and many new parts
  • Re-sprayed in original Platinum Silver
  • One set of keys
  • Fully serviced last year with minimal mileage since
There was plenty of work done during the renovation with attention paid to the chassis, body panels, suspension, brakes and the engine. Many new parts were fitted where required and then it was finally treated to a bare metal respray in its original colour.

Purchased only a year ago the car is not getting the use it deserves and is therefore being reluctantly offered for auction.

The Interior

  • Recovered seats
  • Needs some tidying up in places
  • Nice and original

The interior is certainly showing some signs of wear and tear, and the owner advises that the seats have probably been recovered as they would have originally been in cream to match the current door cards.

Otherwise it’s all fairly original and just needs a few bits cleaning and tidying up. The headlining is beginning to sag towards the rear, there is a small tear in the driver’s seat and the cigarette lighter and socket need replacing, but sort those bits out and give it all a good clean and it should present a bit better.

The rear window demister is currently disconnected and may work if reconnected.

The Exterior

  • Re-sprayed in its original colour in 2012
  • Good all-round condition
  • Cooper graphics
The flared arches and the array of spotlights up front are very much the look of the Mini Cooper and it’s all in fairly good condition and certainly has that great ‘classic Mini Cooper’ super-cool look about it.

The paintwork has mostly held up well and still has a good deep shine to it and presents overall really nicely.

There are a couple of small dents in the offside rear wing and passenger door and when you look carefully around the bodywork of the car you can see early signs of bubbling paint here and there but otherwise it all looks fairly solid and straight, sitting purposefully on Minilite wheels which are all in nice condition too, and all have good serviceable tyres.

The Mechanics

  • Part service history
  • Engine rebuilt
  • Recently fully serviced and ready to go

A considerable amount of work underneath and replacing the running gear was all done around ten years ago, including renovating brakes, replacing various suspension arms and the shock absorbers, and basically getting the car put straight where it needed it to bring it up to a nice presentable condition.

Mechanically the car has not done many miles since its restoration and everything is reported to be in good condition with the car being reliable, very nippy, and great fun to drive.

It was last fully serviced around a year ago and is ready to go.

The Summary

Always a fun car to drive, a late Mini Cooper is a ready-made great British classic, and will always continue to be.

About Max Bids

The max bid process allows you to bid without any hassle.

Enter your maximum bid and we will then bid on your behalf to ensure you're the highest bidder - just enough to keep you in the lead and only up until your maximum.

Anti-sniping

Car & Classic prevent auction snipers from bidding in the last seconds to win an auction.

Auctions are extended by 3 minutes if anyone bids within the last 2 minutes to allow other bidders to react and counter-bid.

Auto-bidding increments

  • If your maximum bid is equal to or below the reserve price, your maximum bid will be applied in full if you are the highest bidder.
  • If you are the highest bidder and place a maximum bid above the reserve, we will automatically put in the reserve as your first bid.
    • Once the reserve has been met, Car & Classic will make sure you are the highest bidder using only the bidding increments stated below.
    • We will keep you in the lead up until your maximum bid OR the increment closest to your maximum bid, providing your maximum bid is enough to cover the increment value.

Bid Amount Increment
£0 to £9,999 £100.00
£10,000 to £49,999 £250.00
£50,000 to £99,999 £500.00
£100,000 + £1,000.00

Automatically outbid immediately

When you place a max bid and are outbid immediately that means that another bidder has placed a max bid limit which is higher than yours.

You can bid again and we will use our automatic bid system to try and get you as the highest bidder.

Matching max bids

When there are two max bids of the same value, the one placed first remains the lead bidder.

Pre-authorisation

We may hold a pre-authorisation charge on your card until the end of the auction when the hold will be cancelled. If you win, we'll take a security deposit which counts towards the payment for the vehicle and isn't any extra cost to you.

What are pre-bids?

A pre-bid means you're able to place a bid before the official start of the auction.
You will be notified whether or not you are the highest bidder when the auction starts.

Problem with your bid

Bids are contractually binding. To help protect you, we have some rules in place if we think it's been mistyped. Please check and amend what you have entered.
