2000 Mercedes-Benz E430 Elegance

  • Genuine low mileage - just 42,000 miles
  • Smooth and powerful V8 engine
  • Sumptuous leather interior
  • Full Mercedes service history

The Appeal

1993 saw the birth of the E-Class and the design followed the form of the CLK. These cues were further mirrored with the introduction of the face-lifted version you see here. The E-Class range featured both saloons and estates with a wide range of drivetrains. At the top of the tree was the rare AMG version, but this Elegance specification E430 was definitely the best all-round car in the range.

This car is presented in excellent condition, with a tasteful and subtle specification. With a comprehensive history file, full Mercedes service history an long MOT, it's something of a unicorn - there really aren't too many of these handsome luxury saloons left on the road in such great condition.

The History and Paperwork

  • First registered in 2000
  • 5 owners
  • Current owner since February 2020
  • Very clean MOT history
  • Full Mercedes service history
  • Last service at 40,987 miles
  • Current V5
  • MOT until November 2022

The Exterior

  • Excellent silver paintwork
  • Refurbished 17" multispoke alloys with new Michelin tyres
  • Recently resprayed front wings (still under warranty)

The bodywork is very clean and almost completely unblemished. This is a testament to the care that all the owners have taken with this car, and the very low mileage. Recently, the current owner noticed surface blistering at the base of each wing, so had both wings taken back to bare metal, treated and resprayed. The work is still under warranty too.

Having been recently refurbished and shod in new Michelin rubber, the alloy wheels are in excellent condition and present very well. All of the body panels look straight, true and evenly-gapped. The external trim, lights, glass, badges and brightwork are similarly in excellent condition too. With a deep lustre and shine, the paintwork offers a gloss and quality that you simply don't see on cars of this age usually.

Underneath, the chassis members, floor pans and suspension components that we could see looked to be in excellent condition. Everything looks straight, true and clean, with no evidence of repair, damage or corrosion.

Obviously, as a 22 year old car there is the odd stone chip, and both the front and rear bumpers have minor scuffs on the corners. But there's nothing significant to note - overall the paintwork and bodywork are in excellent condition.

The Interior

  • Dove grey leather interior
  • Wood veneer trim
  • Electric windows and mirrors
  • Dual-zone climate control
  • Handfree telephone
  • Cruise control
  • Electric memory seats
  • Radio/CD player with multichanger

Mercedes cabins have a reputation for quality and longevity, and this car is no exception. With barely any signs of wear, you'd struggle to believe that this is a 22-year old car. The leather on the seats and door cards looks immaculate, with no rips, significant wear or damage evident. It looks more like a 2 year old car! Supportive and comfortable, the electrically adjustable memory seats are an excellent place to spend time too. The wood veneer splashed liberally around the interior is in similarly good condition, with no flaking, cracking or damage and a deep, glossy shine.

All of the cabin's features and instruments work exactly as they should, with the owner reporting no issues at all with the car's high specification interior. The dials and instruments all work well and read accurately. Throughout the cabin and boot area, the carpets are a mid-grey colour and present in superb condition with no staining, damage or tearing. No sagging or damage is evident on the headlining either.

Obviously, no car of this age has a perfect cabin, but this is probably as close as we've seen. It really is that good.

The Mechanics

  • Creamy 4,266cc V8
  • 5-speed automatic transmission
  • Stainless rear silencer

Thanks to the genuine low mileage and excellent service history, the engine remains sweet and smooth with a subtle rumble on idle which builds to a typical V8 growl when pushed a little harder. The 5-speed automatic transmission changes smoothly and efficiently, offering effortless progress. We're assured by the owner that the car drives as it should, with no mechanical issues to report.

That V8 is a proper gem too, pushing a meaty 275bhp to the rear wheels, this luxury saloon is capable of 0-60 in 6.6 seconds and can go on to an electronically-limited top speed of 155mph. It's the kind of easy performance that has become synonymous with the three-pointed star.

The Appeal

Whether you love to waft along in comfort or like the idea of a subtle, luxury car with bags of hidden performance, this could well be the perfect car for you. Not many 22 year old cars can genuinely be said to need nothing doing, but that's definitely the case here. The cabin, bodywork, and drivetrain are all in superb condition - and with that full Mercedes service history and a long MOT, you really can buy this with confidence and drive it away.

This is a delightful modern classic, a luxury saloon with a deep well of performance and all the comfort you could possibly need, all presented exceptionally well. It's an absolute peach of a car, and we're very jealous of whoever the lucky new owner is...

About Max Bids

The max bid process allows you to bid without any hassle.
Enter your maximum bid and we will then bid on your behalf to ensure you're the highest bidder - just enough to keep you in the lead and only up until your maximum.

C&C prevent auction snipers from bidding in the last seconds to win an auction.
Auctions are extended by 5-minutes if anyone bids within the last 2 minutes to allow other bidders to react and counter-bid.

Auto-bidding increments

  • If your maximum bid is equal to or below the reserve price, your maximum bid will be applied in full if you are the highest bidder.
  • If you are the highest bidder and place a maximum bid above the reserve, we will automatically put in the reserve as your first bid.
    • Once the reserve has been met, Car & Classic will make sure you are the highest bidder using only the bidding increments stated below.
    • We will keep you in the lead up until your maximum bid OR the increment closest to your maximum bid, providing your maximum bid is enough to cover the increment value.

Bid Amount Increment
£0 to £10,000 £100.00
£10,000 to £50,000 £250.00
£50,000 to £100,000 £500.00
£100,000+ £1000.00

Automatically outbid immediately

When you place a max bid and are outbid immediately that means that another bidder has placed a max bid limit which is higher than yours.
You can bid again and we will use our automatic bid system to try and get you as the highest bidder.

Matching max bids

When there are two max bids of the same value, the one placed first remains the lead bidder.
