The Appeal
If you want to go anywhere – including off road and into the rough stuff – but do so in effortless comfort and then arrive in elegant style, then you buy a Range Rover. It’s as simple as that. The “Rangie” as it’s affectionately known, has long been the answer to the ‘one car that does it all’ conundrum.
And the P38, overlooked for many years, is now being recognised as something of a modern classic. Suave, understated style, superb powertrains, great all-round ability and well specified cabins make them a very usable and practical daily driver.
The example you see here has been recently recommissioned. Mechanically in fine fettle, it’s now ready for a new owner to add some finishing touches cosmetically. We think it would be a great option for anyone looking for a quick project this summer.
The History and Paperwork
- First registered in 2001
- Four owners from new
- Current owner since March 2021
- The vendor rescued the car after it had been stood in a field for five years – and apparently it started first time
- The car was recommissioned in 2021 and the vendor tells us they have covered only about 1,000 miles since

- Beige leather upholstery with black piping, presenting in good overall condition, with some wear commensurate with the car’s age
- Electric windows, mirrors and sunroof – all working as they should
- Electrically adjustable front seats, however, the driver’s side is not currently working
- Beige carpets with new contrasting black floor mats
- Boot liner fitted
- Jack was missing and has been replaced, spare wheel is present
- Smart wood veneers look to be very presentable

- We noted a couple of scrapes to the near-side and a dent to the near-side rear wheel arch
- A tow hitch is fitted
- Underneath, the car looks nice and solid, with no signs of damage or significant corrosion we could discern
- Front headlight wiper arm is currently missing but will come with the car
- The wheels are the original 18-inch items, but would benefit from refurbishment
- The vendor tells us that they have fitted the following:
- New passenger door mirror
- Headlight wiper arm, blades and motor
- New front and rear Land Rover badges
- New driver’s side front door lock
- New side indicators
- New registration plates
