- Long MOT
The Honda Civic has long been the trusted companion for many a commuter and enthusiasts alike, renowned for its near bulletproof durability, and excellent economy. The Type R models however are no grocery-getters; instead offering high-performance variants of Honda’s flagship platform.
The EP3 is of course the second Civic Type R generation produced, based upon the 7th gen Civic. The EP3 Type R boasts the legendary K20A2 powerplant under the bonnet, along with a perfectly suited and well-balanced chassis to suit. As a result, these hot hatches make an excellent weekend or track toy, but can also quite happily handle daily driving.
This particular example shows just 87k on the clock and has been rather well preserved over the years. Now presented in excellent condition both inside and out with no modifications, this EP3 would make a fantastic addition to any enthusiast’s collection.
The History and Paperwork
- Great service history
- Well maintained example
- MOT until July 2023
- Just 1 owner
This EP3 is an excellent example of Honda’s legendary hatch, now showing just 87k on the clock, with only one owner noted on the V5C. In addition to being one of the fewer examples below 100k, this Civic also presents itself in standard form, with no modifications. As enthusiasts will know, these are popular vehicles to enhance, so finding a standard example is becoming quite a challenge.
The vehicle also appears to have been very well cared for throughout its life, as supported by the included service booklet, which shows a total of 11 services. The vehicle will also be freshly serviced for the lucky new owner prior to collection. Included alongside the service booklet, is the owner’s handbook, V5C document, and a small number of invoices that detail previous maintenance.
- Ep3 Type R reclining sports seats
- Type R floormats
- Original radio
- Excellent condition
The interior of this EP3 is in excellent condition for its age, now showing only minor signs of wear. Both front seats present themselves very well, with only minor wear and slight damage to observe with the driver’s side bolster. Much like the front passenger seat, the rears show far fewer signs of use and look brilliant.
Carpeting throughout the vehicle has also been cared for, although the front floor mats do of course reflect signs of wear. The headliner follows suit, with only a few incredibly minor marks to note upon close inspection. Both door cards also present themselves very well, with seemingly only a few small scuffs to the plastics.
Also rather impressively, this EP3 still shows off its original radio, which is commonly swapped out for aftermarket head units. The radio and all controls within the interior are believed to be in full working order and show absolutely minimal wear to contact points.
Overall, the interior is clean, tidy and shows off the original equipment very well. As the images reflect, the cabin has been well preserved and now only shows a few minor signs of its age.
- Satin Silver paintwork
- Un-modified exterior
- Excellent condition
Drastically different from its successor the FN2, the EP3 Type R shows off a very iconic early 2000s shape, that has aged very well over the years. This example does the design proud, showing off a mostly original Satin Silver finish, with no noticeable modifications.
Now 18 years old, the paintwork still presents itself very well, with only a few blemishes to mention. Expectedly, there are the usual front-end speckles, along with minor surface corrosion peeking through near the rear arches as pictured. As a result of a recent respray, there is also an ever so slight colour difference noticeable with the front left wing.
Complementing the Satin Silver paintwork, are the factory 17s, which are in fantastic condition, having likely been refurbished in the past. The wheels come wrapped in a mixed set of Pirelli & Bridgestone tyres, with plenty of tread left to enjoy.
- K20A2 4-cylinder
- Manual 6-speed
- Regularly serviced
- Performs without fault
If you know your Hondas, you’ll likely already be familiar with the brand’s tendency to bless enthusiasts with their rev-happy 4 cylinders. The EP3 packs the now legendary K20A2 lump, renowned for its bullet-proof durability and endless desire to be pushed to the limits. This platform also responds well to bolt-on modifications and offers abundant tuning and performance potential.
This example shows just 87k on the clock and has been well maintained throughout its life, with regular servicing to support. As enthusiasts will know, 87k by Honda standards is hardly anything at all, with well-maintained examples capable of reaching far higher. As such, this EP3 performs exactly as Honda intended, with no known mechanical or electrical faults.
In true Honda fashion, it would also appear that this Civic has hardly required much in the past, other than regular servicing and consumables. Now offered with a long MOT and nothing required to be enjoyed by the next lucky owner, this Type R is ready to hit the roads.
Offered today is a fantastic example to get your teeth into one of the finest driver’s cars of all time, known for its rev-happy nature, bulletproof reliability, and endless support. This EP3 has been kept in its standard form and well preserved over the years, now presenting itself in excellent condition both inside and out.
