The Appeal
The successor to the F360 was unveiled at the Paris Motor Show in 2004 featuring flowing Pininfarina designed bodywork, Alcoa aluminium chassis and aerodynamic updates that resulted in significantly more downforce than the outgoing model. Powered by an all-new 4.3-litre V8 with four-valve per cylinder technology closely linked to their F1 engines the engine developed a might 485bhp at a heady 8,500rpm. Thanks to the flat-plane crank, the F430 engine gave a signature Ferrari racecar howl at high revs. 0-60 takes a mere 3.6 seconds while the top speed was said to be in excess of 196mph.
The model ran from 2004 to 2009 and was offered in both Berlinetta hard top form and drop top Spider versions, with gearboxes being either a 6-speed manual or a Graziano automated manual transaxle with flappy paddles on the steering wheel. This was the first Ferrari to feature their now famous ‘Manettino’ steering wheel control which links to the limited slip E-diff as well the Electronic Stability Control, the Skyhook electronic dampers and the fly-by-wire throttle.
This particular car has the classic Rosso Scuderia red paintwork but is unusual in that it has the black leather interior with red inserts and red stitching on the leather. With full service history, the full book pack and a low mileage of just 37,700 it’s already to be enjoyed by a new owner.

The current owner is a keen car collector and always wanted to acquire a Ferrari, buying his dream car in 2022 and greatly enjoying his time with it going to car meets. He bought this one as it had a comprehensive service history with its five formers owners and also featured a black and red detailed interior (rather than the much more common cream leather). It had also been fitted with the more aggressive Scuderia alloys. The engine is also said to have been remapped to Scuderia specification.

The Interior
- Unusual black leather seats with red ribbed detailing and red stitching
- Original Momo alcantara and black perforated leather steering wheel with manettino
- Dominant yellow speedo with gear indicator and 10,000 rpm redline
- Black leather dash with red stitching detail
- Carbon fibre trim to centre console and side vent surrounds
- Red carpeting to floors
- Original Ferrari Cascade Harman Becker CD tuner
On most Rosso Scuderia red Ferraris you expect to be greeted by the Crema leather trim, but this one features the more unusual black and red trim which has a much more purposeful look to it. The leather seats feature red insert rubs each perforated with three ventilation holes and a central black rib. With red stitching detail and the prancing horse embossed into the headrests they’re like a work of art. The condition is excellent with only a trace of patina on the edge of the driver’s side seat bolster to show they’ve been used.
The three-spoke alcantara and perforated leather steering wheel has minor patina on the alcantara and is in good order with the engine start and the manettino rotary control inset into the spokes. With optional carbon fibre detailing surrounding the centre console and side vents, together with the red-stitching detail to the black leather dash it all feels very premium and bespoke.
The only minor negatives are slight evidence of wear to the centre console ashtray lid and button surround and a small 5p-sized hole in the driver’s side carpet overmat – all simple fixes.
Overall the interior feels a special place to be the unusual black and red ribbed seats really set the tone for this luxury Italian thoroughbred.
The Exterior
- Paintwork is in excellent condition for year and believed original
- Bodywork looks good with perfect shut lines
- All Valeo front light lenses are intact
- Tail-light lenses all in perfect condition
- Scuderia wheels in grey metallic finish are in good order
- Front tyres are Michelin Super Sport tyres in 225/35 ZR19 (dated 2016)
- Rear tyres are Michelin Super Sport tyres 285/35 ZR19 (dated 2016)
For the majority of buyers, there’s only one colour to specify a Ferrari in and the Rosso Scuderia red hue of this car is as smooth as glass and gleams intensely. It looks superb and there’s only the odd minor stonechip on the front bumper to show it’s been used. The only minor point to note on the bodywork is a 50p sized area of paint bubbling on the upper leading edge of the driver’s side wing. This could easily be sorted by a paint correction firm.
The optional gun metal grey Scuderia wheels look far more aggressive than the stock five-spoke wheels and are shod with a matching set of Michelin Pilot Super Sport tyres that are unkerbed. Yellow detailed Ferrari branded Brembo calipers are visible through the spokes and clamp drilled steel discs (happily this car isn’t fitted with the eye-wateringly expensive to replace ceramic discs).
Overall the car presents beautifully, just as a low mileage Ferrari should do.
The Mechanics
- 4.3-litre four-valve-per-cylinder, flat-plane crank V8 developing 485bhp
- Engine sounds amazing and is thought to have been treated to Scuderia mapping
- 6-speed automated Graziano manual gearbox with replacement clutch in 2014
- Optional full carbon fibre detailing to engine bay looks superb
- Fully serviced and ready to be enjoyed
Thumbing the steering wheel mounted starter button on the 485bhp V8 gives a real sense of occasion and as the flat plane crank spins the engine to life, the hairs on the back of your neck stand up. With F1-derived technology it sounds like nothing else and soon settles into a menacing idle.
Even just moving the car around at low speeds with the light flywheel and eagerness to rev, you can tell this car means business. The current owner has recently had the car serviced at a local Ferrari specialist and says that it drives without fault.
Summary
Owning any Ferrari brings a sense of occasion to things and this Ferrari F430 is a delight thanks to its gleaming red paintwork and the unusual black-and-red interior. With low mileage and a comprehensive service history, it’s all ready for the next collector to enjoy it.
