The Appeal
There seems little point in noting Subaru’s credentials in rally car racing. This WRX variant of the Impreza is short for World Rally Experimental, but for those that are unfamiliar with the history, just type Colin McRae into your favourite search engine.
The WRX set the bar high with it’s four wheel drive capabilities and a turbo charged 2.5-litre engine, it’s one of the first consumer cars used for racing without much modification. The second gen Impreza has been through a couple of body alterations through its life, starting back in 2000 with the affectionately named ‘bug eye’, right through to 2007 and the far sharper looking ‘Hawkeye’ which we have here. Out of the factory, the car delivers 280bhp and will propel you from 0-60 in 5 seconds. For those fans of adrenaline out there, there’s the option of upgrading to the Prodrive Performance Pack (PPP) which this one has, increasing this cars output to 316bhp, and includes various upgrades such as an ECU remap, a high-flow exhaust system, and a larger intercooler, among other things.

The Summary
A very well-maintained example in truly fantastic condition and relatively low mileage for the cars age. Increasingly sought after, this is one that will turn heads wherever she goes, especially with that sweet note generated from the exhaust. Likely to generate a lot of interest from collectors, but also perhaps to those that feel the need to blow some cobwebs out like never before. This one will certainly do that…just try to keep your hair on.
