The Appeal

The Ford Motor Company and Roush Performance go together like gin and tonic. For the past 40 years, Roush has been modifying everything Ford and when they got their hands on the fifth-generation Mustang, they created one of the best modern muscle cars to grace the road. This Roush 427R has been looked after well throughout its years, with a clean Carfax report showing that the low mileage is genuine.

Not only has it been looked after well, but it has also been modified tastefully. The modifications have been undertaken by Brenspeed in Indiana and include items like an Eaton true lock track diff, Roush billet control arms, and a 4” one-piece aluminium driveshaft.

You need to experience this car before we make the switch to full electric. The car sounds like a thunderstorm when it is running and when you push on the whine of the supercharger encourages you to push the throttle harder.

The History and Paperwork

 • The base Mustang was built in the first half of 2007 and as soon as it is finished it is shipped straight to Roush
 • When it gets to Roush there is $20,000 worth of bits put onto it
 • The 427R package includes, a ROUSHcharger, intake manifold, intercooler & radiator, and Roush calibrated ECM to help produce the 427hp
 • Along with the ROUSHcharger it is also fitted with, a 4-piece aero body kit, lower valance fog lamps, high-performance exhaust, and a lot of Roush embellished extras 
 • Interestingly the original Roush spec and build sheet has been retained and can be found amongst the paperwork that will come with this car. This is extremely important to prove that it is a genuine Roush 427R
 • This car also comes with a clean Carfax report, this report documents the owners, mileage, and any work that has been carried out by garages stateside.
 • This Roush has only had three owners whilst in the States with the first owner having it from 2007-2014, the second owner from 2014-2016, and the third owner from 2016-2022. The 1 owner on this side of the pond has had her since 2022
 • All the import duties paid 
 • The interesting story with this car starts with the third owner, who has spent an inordinate amount of money on this car on tasteful modifications
 • These modifications take up a page and a half of A4 paper and are as follows 
 • Moroso brake fluid reservoir, rear diff rebuild with 4-10 ring and gears, girdle cover bearing and shim kit, Eaton true locker track diff, 31 spline axle Mosier wheel studs, BMR upper Panhard support, BMR adjustable Panhard rod.
 • Roush billet control arms, stainless steel brake lines, new ceramic front, and rear brake pads, front and rear drilled brake discs, 2 new front 18x9 FR500 road wheels, and 2 new rear 18x10 FR500 road wheels.
 • Aeromotive fuel filter, Streeda cold air intake, fuel rail injectors (6.5 GS 38lbs/AV), hood hydraulics, Roush Z.49 supercharger pulley, HTO spark plugs, Moroso oil separator

 • If you made it all the way through the list then we congratulate you, as you can see this car has had a lot of money spent on it and it is now the perfect example
 • The current owner had this car imported into the UK at the start of last year and has since looked after it well making sure it is always covered when not in use
 • A current UK V5 is present so a change of ownership will be nice and easy

The Interior

Being a Ford product the interior of this Roush 427R is nice and familiar with both modern touches and retro throwbacks you know that you are in something special. 

If we start by looking at the overall condition of the interior, we can see that throughout its 15-year life it has been looked after well by all 4 of its owners. The expensive Roush embroidered leather seats are in very good condition with only a few marks on the driver’s side bolster. All three of the other passenger’s seats are in very good condition though and you will be able to create many happy memories sitting in them throughout your ownership.

There are a few important stickers within the interior of this Roush that help prove that it is indeed a genuine car and not one that someone has built themselves. The first sticker is the mandated Ford VIN stick which shows us the VIN of the original Mustang, the second and more important on the driver’s side is the one stuck just above the door latch. 

This sticker is a federal sticker that states that “This vehicle was altered by Roush Performance Product’. The final sticker can be found on the passenger side, this provides the Roush Performance serial number of the car 07-02426 which corresponds to the serial number found on the build sheet. All of these stickers help prove that it is indeed a Roush 427R Mustang.

Within this interior, you will find many plaques and embroidered monikers with the Roush door sills, 427R floor mats, and the all-important ‘Supercharged’ plaque on the dash. Along with these plaques there is also a special, and rather expensive, Roush short shifter fitted. The 8-ball style gear knob and the exposed metal shifter are a nice little throwback to the original Mustang.

Moving into the rather spacious boot section it is like it has never been used as the carpet still looks new. Upon lifting the carpet, you find the space-saver spare wheel and a jack. The current owner did make a point about removing this space saver to help illustrate their belief that it has never been in a rear-end shunt. 

As this car has the optional rear window louvres fitted it transforms the cabin into a focused environment meaning that you can concentrate on chucking this thing round the track at ten-tenths. 
Be in no doubt that the interior of this Roush will be the key to unlocking many happy memories in the future, whether that’s on a track or on a road trip it will be the perfect place to sit, relax and take in the views.

What a stunner this car is, presented in a beautiful silver with black decals it looks a lot better than the cliché blue with white stripes that you always see modified Mustangs wearing. With the Roush aero kit fitted from the factory, the looks have been enhanced into a mean and aggressive muscle car. 

As you would expect from a car with so few miles and a host of loving owners the exterior condition is excellent, with no major dents or dings this will be the pride of your garage.

When the current owner acquired the car earlier this year the black decals were somewhat unimpressive, having faded a lot due to the sun. After they had submitted a lot of information to Roush, they had to create these decals specially as they no longer made them. Upon their arrival, they were fitted by a trained professional and they now tie together the entire exterior. 

Along with the special decals she sits on rather special after-market wheels and tires, one way to tell whether a car has been treasured is to look at the tyres that are fitted. This car runs on four matching Nitto NT555 G2 tyres, these have a good amount of tread left and are nice and grippy. 

To help with rear visibility the current owner has fitted LED lights, the brake lights are now highly visible at all times of the day. Along with the new brake lights, an LED reverse light has been fitted and a red fog light has been put into the rear light cluster to save it from any nasty dangly after-market appendages.

This muscular and aggressive-looking Mustang will be the pride of your garage and when out on the road people will jump out of your way when they see the low slung and angular front bumper. 

The Mechanics

The Mustang has always been about speed and power, this Roush modified Mustang has power in bucketloads. Even opening the bonnet is a theatrical performance, once you undo the bonnet pins and pull the bonnet release you are presented with an engine bay most people can only dream of. As the saying goes there is no replacement for displacement.

With so many mechanical upgrades fitted to this car recently, this car must be pushing out more than its acclaimed 427hp. To handle all of this power an expensive and trick Exedy clutch has been fitted and when you are out on the road she pulls beautifully with no signs of slippage from the clutch. 

Once the power has made its way from the engine, through the clutch, along the 4” aluminium drive it arrives at the Eaton True Locker Track diff where it is distributed amongst the two rear wheels without messing around and it fires you down the road. 

When the time comes to stop you will be happy to hear that this Roush has just been fitted with new drilled discs front and rear along with new ceramic pads these are a welcome addition when you’re approaching a corner at a rate of knots. 

Driving this car is like watching a classical piece of theatre, as you get going there are little signs of what you are in for, as the revs build, and the supercharger starts to whine it is like a crescendo and when you change gear you get to do it all again. All whilst leaving other drivers for dust. 

Taking a look underneath the car on a ramp it is clear to see that this car has probably never seen a salty road in its life, with the painted underside looking like new. Once you’re under the car you can also appreciate the amount of time and effort the previous owner put into this car with all of the new and expensive parts. 

As the world starts to go fully electric this is the perfect swansong for Detroit V8 that we all know and love. Providing many smiles per gallon you will always have a smile on your face wherever you go. 

Summary

With so much going for this Roush it will no doubt be the perfect addition to your collection. Whether you take it to car shows, drive it down B-roads, or display it as part of a museum you will always have a smile on your face.

The combination of a burbling V8 and whining supercharger invigorates a feeling that no other type of car can. This car can turn ahead from 5 miles away and beat anything in a traffic light drag race.
