The Appeal
Every year, the Daytona 500 starts with a high-performance pace car leading the competitors around the track. Pace car driving has become synonymous with celebrities, but it’s also an opportunity for the supplying manufacturer to show off their wares, such as the gold Chevrolet Corvette Z06 which led off the 50th anniversary race in 2008.
Lovingly styled to resemble a pace car, and emblazoned with Daytona 50 Years livery from 2008, this instantly arresting Corvette C6 from the same year was imported into the UK earlier in 2025 having spent the rest of its life Stateside. It’s every inch the official pace car, as its nose and tail decals suggest, with a dramatic roof-mounted NASCAR-branded light bar. The tricolour decals extend into the cabin where striped seats are capped by “Daytona 500 50 Years 2008” badges sewn into the headrests.
Decals and seats aside, this is a classic late Noughties Corvette, with a six-dial instrument gauge and head-up display dominating the driver’s eyeline. It still has 2024 service stickers from American dealerships on the windscreen, while Corvette logos appear everywhere from the floormats to the inner bonnet lining, via the infotainment screen and seat backs. This wouldn’t be a shy and retiring car even if the Daytona decals were removed, with a central quad exhaust and red brake callipers (Corvette-branded, naturally) competing for attention.
There is some wear to the door handles and surface flecks missing from the white paintwork, particularly along that lengthy bonnet, but the Targa roof panel appears to be in excellent order as it stows away neatly under the tailgate. Similarly, surface wear across parts of the interior doesn’t detract from its robust overall condition.

Combining unforgettable aesthetics with thunderous performance and a high standard specification, this Corvette lives up to its owner’s billing as being “totally beautiful and unique.”
