The Appeal
The 997 Targa 4S just has everything going for it, with coupe or open top motoring available at the push of a button and all the performance and extra grip and security provided by the permanent 4-wheel drive system, 3.8 litre engine and the wide-body Turbo stance.
The 997 Targa has a few other tricks up its sleeve too, the Targa 997 had softer spring rates geared more for comfort and features an extended leather interior and a clever rear window set-up that opens up like a hatchback.
It’s also an incarnation of the Porsche 911, one of the world’s greatest ever sportscars.

There are plenty of invoices for maintenance and keeping this 911 in fine fighting shape. Over the last few years considerable sums of money have been spent on the brakes, suspension and new motors for the Targa roof mechanism.
Presented in Basalt Black Metallic with full Black leather interior the car looks in great overall shape and the owner advises that it drives even better than it looks.

Comfortable and supportive electric sport’s seats set the tone for the comprehensively equipped Porsche cabin, with the white dials and instruments all neatly and ergonomically laid out before the driver.
The interior is very clean and in great overall condition with only some slight wear evident within the cabin to give a clue to the car’s age.
The rear seats have some dimpling in the leather, which can normally easily be erased with the use of some steam and gentle pressure being applied.

The 997 Targa 4S has a wider body than the standard 997 and, combined with the car’s Basalt Black Metallic paintwork looks all the meaner and better for it, sitting on gleaming alloy wheels it really does look the business.
There are a couple of stone chips at the front which could do with some attention, some light scratches at the rear bumper that might polish out and a crack in the rear window trim, but otherwise there’s nothing else to report.
