Audi are well known for their motorsport pedigree and thus some very competent high-performance models have graced their product line. However, one model has stood out since its release and continues to do so, the R8. Other RS models are usually developed from existing road going models to give for a sportier variant.
The R8 was developed by Audi Sport from their Le Mans quattro concept car and even shares the name with their Le Mans winner. Originally this coupé was offered in two engine configurations, a 4.3L V8 or a 5.2L V10, both of which were offered with manual and automatic gearboxes. The 5.2L examples are often more desirable due to the higher power output and truly impressive power output.
The R8 makes use of an aluminium monocoque giving for impressive handling while helping to keep the weight down. Even after 10 years, the performance figures of the V10 R8 are still very impressive. A top speed of 196mph and 0-60mph in just 3.9 seconds means you can still hold your own against more modern equivalents!
Although this R8 has covered some 44,000 miles you may not think that when inspecting the interior. The black Nappa leather seats remain in very good condition with the only noticeable signs of wear on the drivers' seat bolsters. The leather is free from any rips or tears and is still makes for a very appealing cabin.
The rest of the trim and dashboard all remain in very good condition. There is some wear around the drivers' side window switches but this is only noticeable when inspecting closely. The original Audi Navigation Plus head unit is present and working as it should, very well. This example also has the desirable Bang & Olufsen sound system.
There are heavy duty rubber floor mats in very good condition as well as having the original floor mats underneath and carpets, all of which are in good condition. The head lining is also secure and in very good condition. Finally, whilst not being the largest, the boot of this R8 is also in excellent condition and also has a battery charging terminal should you need to keep the vehicle on charge.

Suzuka Grey is one of the more desirable colourways that Audi offer. It is very easy to see why with this R8, it complements the contours of the bodywork perfectly. It's helped further by being set off with the black grilles and rear diffuser as well as the silver air intakes located behind either door, truly a joy to look at.
Evidently the exterior of this example has been as well looked after as the interior. When inspecting very closely you can see some minor paint chips around the usual areas such as front bumper and bonnet but considering the age and mileage it exceeds expectations. The diamond cut alloys also remain in excellent condition without any signs of damage and fit perfectly with the Suzuka Grey paint work.
All glass, brightwork and badges are in very good condition too. This example has the added convenience of a rear camera as well as bi-xenon plus & LED headlights.
Mechanically, this R8 has been well maintained throughout its life. With a substantial amount of the work carried out by Audi, any other maintenance has been carried out independently which can be seen in the thorough service history. The original service book comes included and stamped with any noticeable gaps accounted for with independent invoices.
The vehicle last received a full service in mid 2021 carried out by Audi. It's clear that the previous owners cherished this vehicle when looking at the service history. New rear shock absorbers were fitted in 2018 and 2019 with the front diff also receiving a full service and rebuild in early 2020. The seller also states that the gearbox works and changes gear as it should.
The car drives and stops well, with good linear power delivery while accelerating. The underside of this example is in a good, tidy condition. Similarly, the engine bay is in very good condition.
Considering the age and mileage, this example of Audi's R8 may well exceed your expectations. It has evidently been very well looked after throughout its life. Not only can this be seen visually when inspecting the car but also with the thorough service history.
The R8 is a finely tuned machine and this is certainly noticeable when you hear the wonderful roar of that 5.2L V10, a true masterpiece from an era that is sadly disappearing. Even by today's equivalents, this R8 still has competitive performance coupled with a rather luxurious cabin, it even has heated seats.
With emission restrictions growing ever stricter, now is a great time to own this wonderful R8 and enjoy its engineering prowess.
