It has also been subject to some extensive, well chosen upgrades that has seen the bhp increase from the standard 550bhp to a blistering 850bhp and coming in at an eye watering $25,000.

One of the great things about importing a modern-day car from the States is that if it has been well looked after, you can see it on the Carfax report, which shows the vehicle's history and footprint throughout its life.
Servicing, parts, change of ownership, it's all there to be seen, giving you peace of mind it’s been well looked after.
This is exactly what the vendor was looking for when he was searching for a special type of Mustang.
He came across this GT500 SVT edition which had been upgraded, as mentioned earlier, to 850bhp. The car comes with the owner's manuals, a printout of the critical Carfax report, some invoices for the parts fitted during the upgrades and an MOT which is valid until the 11th May 2023.
Having owned the car for just over 12 months, it’s now time to let someone else have the pleasure of 850bhp under their right foot, and what a treat that will be with this special GT500 SVT!
THE INTERIOR
- Red/Black Recaro leather seats
- Presents well
- Shelby GT500 gearknob
- Leather/Alcantara steering wheel
Sitting behind the wheel of something with 550bhp as standard, you need something to hold you tightly, and the Recaro seats do an excellent job of this.
The bolsters hold you tightly and are in excellent condition, with no real signs of wear. They are finished in black leather with two red stripes and an embossed Cobra sitting dead centre of the headrest. The rear bench seat is in excellent condition and doesn’t appear to have had a great deal of use. The door cards are also in good condition, with no apparent scuffs or damage to mention.
The factory steering wheel is in leather and Alcantara; there is a small amount of wear to the Alcantara in keeping with the mileage and also to the corner of the cruise control buttons on the left.
The instruments are working as they should, with no warning lights displayed when running, and the odometer shows a reading of 74,441 miles.
The Shaker audio works as it should, although it won’t pick up UK DAB stations, not that you really need music in this machine. The heater controls are reported to work as they should, with no issues.
The black headlining is in excellent order, with no sagging or visible marks. On the floor, the carpets show no signs of excessive wear and have fitted mats with the GT500 embroidered logo on the side.
Inside the boot is clean and tidy. Lifting the carpet, there is the space saver spare wheel, and the first sign of some upgrades is the VMP fuel pump voltage booster ensuring enough fuel is delivered to the 5.4 litre V8.
THE EXTERIOR
- Proper American muscle car styling
- Finished in Gloss Black with red stripes
- Factory SVT wheels
- Light tint on windows
Finished in Gloss Black with a red stripe to the lower section, the vendor has also fitted red stripes running down the centre of the Mustang.
The car presents exceptionally well.
There is a mention in the Carfax report that the front and rear bumpers have received some paint after a small knock; it also states the airbags were not deployed.
There are some general small stone chips, as you would expect to the front end, but these are minimal. The headlights and fog lights are both in good condition with no splits or cracks.
Looking down the shapley flanks of the Mustang, there are no dings or dents to mention, and the door shut lines are both straight and equal. The vendor has had a light smoke tint applied to the windows which is free from any scratches.
At the rear, the stripes continue to the bumper, which has a rear diffuser, and either side are the Corsa Performance Exhaust tailpipes. The classic look Mustang lights are in excellent order with no splits or cracks to the lenses.
Fitted with the factory Snowflake style wheels, which are 19” at the front and 20” at the rear, these are in excellent condition with no obvious marks or damage to point out. The tyres are two different makes to the front and rear but have a good amount of tread remaining.
THE MECHANICS
- 5.4 litre Supercharged V8
- Upgraded to 850bhp
- VMP supercharger with a smaller pulley
- American racing headers
- No expense spared upgrades
5.4 litres of V8 American muscle, hand built by Ford SVT.
Improving it further, a previous keeper has taken the GT500 to the next level with a series of upgrades bringing the power to 850bhp.
These upgrades include a VMP Gen2 R Supercharger with a 2.4” pulley, allowing more air in is a JLT cold air intake kit, and the fueling is dealt with by a VMP 63mm throttle body and FIC 1000 injectors.
What goes in must come out; the exhaust gases are exited via a set of American Racing headers coupled to a Corsa Performance Exhaust system, which sounds fantastic.
All this extra performance to the engine is no good if you can’t get it to the wheels. This won’t be an issue for the Mustang as it has had a Mcleod performance clutch fitted which is coupled to an aluminium one-piece driveshaft before connecting to the 3.73 differential, ensuring that the power is delivered with minimal loss.
Being the SVT model, the car comes with 20% stiffer suspension as standard, and this has been further improved with Roush lower trailing arms. The car is reported to handle well when driven correctly, but with 850bhp, the vendor does report you do have to concentrate.
The car starts up as it should. It has recently been given a once over by a Mustang specialist who fitted a new O2 sensor, ensuring it was running correctly. No issues have been reported by the vendor.
SUMMARY
What a fantastic opportunity to own one of the unique GT500 SVT Mustangs, and to top it off, this 2012 model has superb performance upgrades, as mentioned.
In addition, it’s in fantastic condition inside and out, and together with great history, makes it an excellent contender if you are in the market for a serious muscle car.
One thing is for sure, once you drive the Mustang GT500 SVT, you will not look back. It’s pretty much guaranteed you'll become addicted!
