The Appeal

The pinnacle of the contemporary Aston Martin lineup, the 2014 Vanquish is a sporting grand tourer with a sonorous V12 engine that provides an enviable combination of sports car agility and long distance cruising ability.
Luxuriously appointed inside, with the desirable Bang and Olufsen audio option and distinctive hand-stitched white leather seats, this example is tastefully specified and is in beautiful condition.
It’s a low mileage car that has obviously been very well cared for and would make the perfect companion for a pan-European jaunt. Its next owner will be very lucky indeed.

The History and Paperwork

  • Built 2014
  • German registration papers but has never been on German roads
  • TUV valid for 2 years
  • Handbook and glass key present

The Interior

  • Hand stitched white leather seats
  • 2+2 seating option
  • Desirable B&O audio
It goes without saying that a luxury GT such as the Vanquish is a comfortable place to spend time. But the Vanquish interior reflects the car’s more sporting focus than other GT cars and presents a cosseting environment that can be a little claustrophobic in darker colour schemes. Fortunately, this car’s white leather lifts the experience and provides an airier cockpit ambience.
The hand-stitched seats with quilting and Aston Martin logos on the headrests have worn well and, although the driver’s seat shows a little stretching to the seat base cover, there’s no obvious discolouration to any of the surfaces covered in the light hue of leather.
The ‘waterfall’ dashboard features haptic controls that provide a more user-friendly interface than a simple touch-screen while behind the One-77 inspired steering wheel, there are paddle shifters for the automatic gearbox. These are attached to the steering column rather than the wheel, meaning that you always know where to find them.
For a touch of theatre, turn on the hi fi and the tweeters of the Bang and Olufsen system rise slowly from the dashboard. Once aloft, the stereo provides an incredible sound stage for those moments when you don’t want to simply enjoy the exhaust note.

Specified with the optional rear seats, this car provides occasional practicality though, in common with most of these, they appear to have seen little use.

The Exterior

  • Full carbon fibre bodywork
  • Exposed carbon fibre roof, side skirts, front spoiler and rear diffuser
  • Immaculate condition
Designed by Marek Recihman, the second edition Vanquish features many of the usual Aston Martin signature flourishes of the time and, to our eyes, has aged extremely well.
The beautiful Vanquish silhouette is rendered in carbon fibre and the car wears its construction openly with exposed elements all around the car. Where the body is painted, we couldn’t see any blemishes to speak of; the grey paintwork appears to be unmarked and the overall effect is stunning.
The exquisite 10-spoke alloys also appear to be unmarked and wearing tyres with good tread all round. The open wheel design allows clear view of the very substantial carbon ceramic disks and the selection of silver coloured callipers gives the car a tasteful and restrained appearance.

The Mechanics

  • 5935 cc V12 producing 565hp
  • 6 speed automatic gearbox with paddle shifters
  • Carbon ceramic brakes
Under the bonnet lurks Aston’s 5.9-litre V12 which in this incarnation was good for 565hp and here the engine bay is in immaculate condition. The real joy from this engine comes not from admiring how it looks, however, but hearing and experiencing it in action.
It really is one of the great sounding engines and at full chat is quite something to enjoy but a valved exhaust delivers some more refinement when needed.
As you’d expect from such a low mileage car, no issues are reported with the way that it goes, stops or steers. It’s ready and waiting for its new owner to enjoy.

Summary

A low mileage range-topping British GT car that will turn heads like nothing else and deliver its occupants in style to their destinations.
