2014 Porsche Cayman GTS

Highlights

  • Sapphire Blue Cayman GTS in lovely order
  • Less than 21,000 miles
  • Full service history
  • Cherished, enthusiast-owned car

The Background

Introduced in 2014, the GTS was the high performance version of the Porsche Cayman, with an uprated version of the standard S model’s 3.4-litre flat six developing an increased power output of 335bhp.
In addition, the model got a 10mm drop in ride height and PASM – that’s Porsche Adaptive Stability Management - including adaptive dampers 20in alloys, bi-xenon adaptive headlamps and blacked-out front and rear bumpers.
With the Porsche Cayman S already a hugely popular car with driving enthusiasts, it came as no surprise to see that the plaudits came thick and fast for the GTS model which, at the time, was considered one of the most engaging and rewarding Porsches ever to drive.
Fast forward eight years since it first appeared and it remains exactly that. It's an absolutely fantastic drivers’ car and one that’s actively sought after on the second-hand market, meaning the values remain pretty strong.
This one has the added appeal of having covered an average of less than 3,000 miles a year since it was built, and currently has less than 21,000 miles on the clock. It's a genuine two-owner car with a comprehensive main dealer service history, and must be one of the best early GTSs on the market right now.

The History

Originally registered in Essex, EX64 NTK was acquired by the current owner in 2016 from the Porsche Centre Cambridge - one of the brand’s most prestigious main dealerships.
It has remained in Cambridgeshire ever since and has covered a low mileage, partly because the owner is retired and prefers to use public transport when travelling around the city, and partly because he spends the warmer months travelling by motorcycle.
The Porsche has been used primarily for weekends away and longer journeys and has been kept in regular use. It hasn't been used hard or abused.

The Paperwork

Supplied with the Cayman are a selection of bills relating to servicing carried out by main dealers during the current owner’s tenure and that of the cars first keeper.
There's also a fully stamped service book showing that the car was last serviced in December 2021,  less than 300 miles ago, at the Porsche Centre Cambridge.
An MOT test was carried out at the same time, meaning that it comes with a test valid until December 2022. The car is also supplied with two sets of keys.

The Exterior

Finished in striking Sapphire Blue, which is one of the most desirable and sought after colours for a Cayman GTS, the car looks absolutely stunning. It sits on a set of gunmetal grey 20-inch alloys which are in near perfect condition and set off the red brake callipers perfectly.
Additional GTS features include a lower front splitter and a rear diffuser, which are picked out in black, as are the side air intakes and fog lamp surrounds.
The car is practically faultless on the outside with no scuffs, scrapes or marks of any note and the vendor reports that it has never been accident damaged nor has it required any bodywork repairs.

The Interior

One of the key differences between a Cayman S and a Cayman GTS is the interior, the GTS having narrower and lighter sports seats with leather side panels and Alcantara inserts, along with a matching Alcantara central armrest. The doors are trimmed in a similar fabric, with alloy style inserts and billeted aluminium door handles, while the car also has an alloy steering wheel with a chunky leather rim.
Like all Porsche cabins, it's an exciting place to sit, with a perfect driving position and straightforward, intuitive controls. This example features Porsche’s Tiptronic transmission, which can be used either in full auto mode or as a sequential manual through the lever or via paddles on the steering wheel.
Luggage space is limited thanks to the car’s mid-mounted engine, but there is a useful boot at the front and a separate storage area at the rear. There are also two cubby boxes, one either side of the engine compartment.
Unsurprisingly, given the car has a low mileage and has been well cared for, the cabin is in excellent order throughout.

The Mechanics

With 335bhp, the 3.4-litre GTS is definitely no slouch and this car’s service record, not least the fact this it has very recently been maintained by one of Porsche’s best regarded main dealerships, should give its next owner absolute peace of mind.
We were unable to inspect the engine itself during our photoshoot as it lives under a cover that needs to be removed via a series of Torx bolts, but we were able to check both the oil and coolant levels via their inspection covers and can confirm that both are as they should be and have recently been refreshed.
The vendor reports that the car is absolutely brilliant to drive, never fails to put a smile on his face and is in excellent running order with no known faults.

The Appeal

This is an absolute gem of a car that has future classic written all over it, thanks to a record of meticulous care and attention and the fact that it is the best specification in the absolute best colour.
Cayman GTSs are sought-after cars for a very good reason. They are among the very best and most rewarding drivers’ cars that money can buy and a good one will be a car that is very easy to fall in love with.
We genuinely don't think that they come much better than this.

About Max Bids

The max bid process allows you to bid without any hassle.

Enter your maximum bid and we will then bid on your behalf to ensure you're the highest bidder - just enough to keep you in the lead and only up until your maximum.

Anti-sniping

Car & Classic prevent auction snipers from bidding in the last seconds to win an auction.

Auctions are extended by 3 minutes if anyone bids within the last 2 minutes to allow other bidders to react and counter-bid.

Auto-bidding increments

  • If your maximum bid is equal to or below the reserve price, your maximum bid will be applied in full if you are the highest bidder.
  • If you are the highest bidder and place a maximum bid above the reserve, we will automatically put in the reserve as your first bid.
    • Once the reserve has been met, Car & Classic will make sure you are the highest bidder using only the bidding increments stated below.
    • We will keep you in the lead up until your maximum bid OR the increment closest to your maximum bid, providing your maximum bid is enough to cover the increment value.

Bid Amount Increment
£0 to £9,999 £100.00
£10,000 to £49,999 £250.00
£50,000 to £99,999 £500.00
£100,000 + £1,000.00

Automatically outbid immediately

When you place a max bid and are outbid immediately that means that another bidder has placed a max bid limit which is higher than yours.

You can bid again and we will use our automatic bid system to try and get you as the highest bidder.

Matching max bids

When there are two max bids of the same value, the one placed first remains the lead bidder.

Pre-authorisation

We may hold a pre-authorisation charge on your card until the end of the auction when the hold will be cancelled. If you win, we'll take a security deposit which counts towards the payment for the vehicle and isn't any extra cost to you.

What are pre-bids?

A pre-bid means you're able to place a bid before the official start of the auction.
You will be notified whether or not you are the highest bidder when the auction starts.

Problem with your bid

Bids are contractually binding. To help protect you, we have some rules in place if we think it's been mistyped. Please check and amend what you have entered.
