The SAAB 96 debuted in 1960 as a successor to the 93F.
The 96 was made famous by the notable legendary Saab Rally Champions Erik “On The Roof” Carlsson, as well as his wife, Pat Moss.
The 96 was built at the Trollhättan plant in Sweden due to installed capacity, and V4 models began to be produced at the Uusikaupunki plant in Finland.
His most famous successes were his first at the 1960, 1961 and 1962 RAC rallies and his first at the 1962 and 1963 Monte Carlo rallies.
It was these successive high profile victories that put the Saab 96 'on the map' and established its reputation for reliability and toughness.
