1981 Essex Blue Dry Sump Turbo Esprit For Sale
On the order form from the factory the original owner wanted an Essex Car ie Essex blue paint, Dry Sump engine, and Compomotive wheels without But not the roof radio or decals due to extra cost, instead chose to opt for a full leather interior champagne colour.!
I purchased this car in early 2017 where it underwent a full mechanical restoration after spending the previous 11 or so years in storage.
The car has 68560 Miles showing on the dials.
The car is mot’d till July 2018.
2 previous keepers but 1 previous owner. Reason for this is original owner from new had it in his business’s name then later transferring it into his own name.
First off I’d like to point out the bad parts, the car is in need of a respray with the car suffering from lacquer peel and heavy stone chipping to the front,
The car also requires the leather interior to be retrimmed, although the carpets have been replaced only a few months ago.
Also the Compomotive wheels need refurbished to.
The rear wheels as you can see are replica comp wheels but I do have the correct Compomotive wheels in the garage which will come with the car they’re just not fitted at the moment.
Right onto the good stuff, the car has had in excess of 30k spent in the past 18 months restoring and upgrading all things mechanical.
First off the engine was brought out and striipped down and internals replaced, new forged pistons installed, along with new shells bearings etc also the oil pump reconditioned,. Everything engine wise was either reconditioned or replaced with new.
The engine also benefits from a new high torque starter motor and new alternator.
The oil tank was took out and cleaned out and reconditioned.
New oil cooler and hoses fitted also,
Finally new engine mounts where fitted and engine re fitted.
Next up was replacing the fuel tanks with stainless steel ones from lotus bits along with new balance pipe, new fuel breather hose and all new fuel lines fuel pump , fuel filter and fuel gauge sender unit and reconditioned carburettors.
Cooling System- was overhauled with reconditioned radiator and all new coolant pipes inc the through chassis pipes. The water pump was also overhauled to
Brakes- reconditioned callipers all round with new pads and discs fitted, we also replaced the brake pipes upgraded the brake hoses with stainless steel braided ones all round.
We also fitted brand new brake slave cylinder and reconditioned the master cylinder.
Gearbox- was sent to a specialist and checked and was deemed to be in perfect working order, clutch was replaced along with upgrading the clutch hose to a braided stainless steel one along with new slave cylinder fitted,
Also gear linkage was overhauled with new bushes and parts fitted.
Finally new gearbox polybush mounts fitted.
Turbo- was sent to Turbotechnics to be reconditioned. also new feed pipe fitted.
Tyres- new vredinstine tyres where fitted.
Suspension- new steering rack UJ upper and lower parts both replaced, and new polybush steering rack bushes fitted along with new rack gaiters to.
We fitted new wheel bearings as well.
New ball joints fitted to.
The car will also come with new coilover suspension units yet to be fitted.
New wiper motor was fitted along with new front light/ indicator units fitted.
The car will come with some new spare parts to help with finishing the car off also.
The car runs perfect and drives beautifully. Massive history file for all work carried out under my ownership and also from new to.
