1968 Brabham F2 - BT23C/2 - 1 of 2 - FRESH and ready! For Sale

Hello!
This is an exceedingly rare opportunity to purchase this F2 classic. One of two made, piloted by Gethin, this is fresh and ready. Fresh FVA Cosworth, loved and well cared for! Just an amazing part of racing history ON-THE-BUTTON. Holds multiple track records.
-------------------
There were two of the model built for the factory team in 1967, #1 which Jack raced in the latter half of the year and #2 which was the team spare. The remainder of the BT23C’s were built in 1968. In 1968 #2 was sold to Frank Lythgoe who had Peter Gethin drive in some of the European F2 Championship races. Peter had, up to June, been driving a Chevron with no significant results but from June onwards made his name known with impressive placings. I have an email in which Peter told about his second place at Albi in France and his third place at Vallelunga (Gran Premio di Roma) behind the two works Ferraris which “had big engines for their home race.”(his words not mine) You can find all relevant information and 1968 race results at “oldracingcars. com’ in the F2 section. In 1969 Sir John Whitmore became the owner and had former motor bike champion Don Godden drive the car.

We bought the car in 2011 and since then my son Damon has driven the car with a degree of local success. The car holds lap records for Group O category historic cars (treaded tyres, no down force) at Phillip Island, Eastern Creek and Wakefield Park circuits. It has the distinction of having the fastest lap time of any Tasman Revival race since the inception of the race in 2006. The current lap record was set on lap 2 in the 2012 race. If you google Damon Hancock Brabham BT23C you will find photos of the car and the American website, “The Vintage Racing League” has a good photo entitled “the Battling BT23, s of Damon Hancock and John Bowe.” I will send more detailed photos when I get the car back from Superior Automotive where it is having a full check over before selling.

The engine is a fresh 1600cc Cosworth FVA. There are 2 sets of 12”/ 9-1/ 2” wheels.

Tecno used fundamentally the same chassis throughout the 1968, 1969 and 1970 seasons, updated to adopt aerodynamic devices as these were developed.
