1975 Land Rover Series 3 LWB 109 Tax Free Mot Exempt For Sale

20/ 12/ 21 Decided to keep it for another year as nothing seems to be selling during this pandemic.

If you really want to buy it the details below

If you can see the advert then It's still available, and yes you guessed it, I'm in no rush to sell it cheap or give it away for peanuts.
In Short if it's an old battered and bruised Land Rover that you are looking for then this is not the one for you !
This Land Rover is NOT like some I have seen for sale, claiming to have been restored yet still needing lots of work.
Literally everything on this vehicle has been checked and tested as good, and replaced with new quality parts where required.
I have been around Land Rovers since I was a boy serving an apprenticeship as a mechanic in the old days then moving on to other things as you do so one could say that I know the good from the bad.
I did not want a Nut and Bolt Rebuild that would just sit in a garage, I wanted something that was useable as an everyday vehicle when required, and thats why I have just ordered a Brand New galvanised rear Safari Door for it.
When I say galvanised I don't just mean the rear door frame but the whole Door as it will have a fully galvanised steel skin as well as a galvanised door frame. Now thats something that's going to last.

Pay me a deposit of £50 and I'll hold the vehicle for you.
I'll get it MOT'd and send you a copy of the certificate ( don't forget it doesn't require one by law . It's you that wants it MOT'd)

That's it !  You wont be disappointed

If you are looking for a piece of history that is very cheap to run, perfect for daily use and with prices increasing by the month then this one should fit the bill.
The limited to 40 MPH sticker on the back is only there for fun, It will go faster than that but to be honest I do tend to drive it at about 40 as I'm in no rush to get anywhere these days.

If you would like the full run down on this vehicle please read the extended version below!

I am told that my adverts are too long so this is the short version.

It is for sale @ 15K and to be honest it's not a must sell .
From some of the other Series Land Rover I have seen I might be as well hanging on to it as it is well above average condition.
It's a very handy vehicle to have as a standby as It doesn't cost anything to tax and the insurance is only £85 a year
so if nobody wants it I'll be just as happy to keep it and use it during the summer months and even into the winter
                  Thanks*** Take care***

Body Type Light Goods ( Van )
Taxation Class Historic Vehicle
Fuel Petrol
Engine and Chassis Numbers match the V5
Mileage on the clock 68, 000
Mileage is genuine
This was off the road for about 5 years at one point, dry stored
and a lot of work done to the vehicle in that time.
I myself have receipts for £1372 worth of new parts from Paddock Spares
+ probably another £900 worth of bits Plus the fully reconditioned Gearbox that has been fitted.
Recently fitted a Powerspark Electronic Ignition Kit For the Lucas 25D Distributor along with a Sparkrite Ignition sports Coil and Ballast resistor so hopefully that should give 20% Increase in power. ( That's what Sparkrite claim so we'll see as time goes on )

Land Rover 109"
The Chassis is very Good, No rot and I mean NO Rot!
It's all been painted with black Chassis paint
It has had a couple of front out riggers fitted and they are solid

Engine is very quiet , starts easily with no rattles or bangs or leaks and ticks over nicely
New rocker shaft and rockers fitted just to keep everything nice and quiet
New heater Matrix just fitted
New Antifreeze added
New 82 degree Thermostat fitted
New Springs ( GB Parabolic springs all round )
New Fuel Tank fitted at the rear ( correct one for the vehicle )
3 New seat belts fitted
2 inertia reel and one lap belt for the centre seat

Reconditioned Gearbox and transfer Box fitted (cost £950)
New 85Amp Battery just fitted (£126)
New Uprated 75Amp Alternator fitted (£80)
New Hand Brake shoes fitted
Both Prop UJ joints checked and greased at front and rear
Front and rear Diffs checked and topped up as required
New Speedo Cable fitted when gearbox went in
Everything works as it should even the heater controls and the vent controls. ( these normally seize up on older Land Rovers)

The original heater motor is working and still in place but I have added an in line blower
for hopefully a better blow and as its inline to the front grill it should get some ram air from the front of the vehicle while on the move.
If you want to put it back to the original Snail blower then just take the aftermarket one off, it's a ten minute job.

The body is all good on the outside, Fairly straight, a few little dents if you really want to be picky but it all adds to the charm.
Certainly nothing that would make you want to run a mile.

The bulkhead is especially good and might well be the original frame as you can still see the witness marks of the original spot welds and the original weld mark on the outside.
The doors as you can see from one of the pictures are solid so nothing wrong in that area.
The rear door is also solid with no frame rot.

The exhaust is quite good and does not blow and there is also a complete replacement exhaust correct for the vehicle and will go with it for future fitting, probably a couple of years down the road. This was bought along with loads of other parts at the beginning of the refurbishment but on looking at the original exhaust it was actually fine so it was put back on the vehicle so now you have a complete spare exhaust ready for fitment at a later date. The whole system is only £90 which is less than the back box on most modern crap!

One of the 3 studs that hold the exhaust on was broken in the manifold when I purchased the vehicle and another had been drilled out and a bolt fitted so rather than mess about drilling the broken one out and to keep the vehicle right I fitted a brand new exhaust manifold, also in the engine compartment is a new coil, new distributor and cap, new plug leads, new fuel filter and so on, so it's not been lashed together with old bits.

The footwells are as good as you will get on a series Land Rover ( sound as a pound )

The roof is in good order and has not been mucked around with and still has the original strengtheners in place
and no one has used a tin opener on it to fit a sun roof.

A couple of new deluxe seat bases fitted .

There is a brand new Galvanised spare wheel well fitted in the back of the truck and a new spare wheel in place.
These wheel wells are now obsolete and very hard to get along with the correct clamp to hold the wheel in place.

The Track rod and drag link has been done, fitted new joints and also fitted new steering relay just to make the vehicle 100% (one less job to do)

2 Brand New Galvanised Door Tops complete with glass and new window channels Fitted
They will not rust in the future so thats £230 well spent.
It's all ready to go, a new floor in the back and an extra covering of Marine Ply on top of the Alloy just to protect it, New Glazed Galvanised Door Tops and a new set ( not retreads ) of 235 85 16 Radial tyres fitted on modular style wheels for a strong stance, and larger defender-style door mirrors fitted for extra visibility to the rear. The paint work is very presentable both the Blue and the Limestone on the roof.
Oh! talking of Limestone, there is a brand new period exterior Sun Visor ( Alloy ) painted in Limestone to go with the vehicle
complete with the correct screws for fitting it. ( another £90 item)

This is the sort of think that you could keep without having to spend much on it in the next few years.
Good 109's are going up in price or should I say all old Land Rovers are going up in price, especially ones in original condition.

This is what I would call in original condition with the benefit of having some modern upgrades
New Parabolic Springs from GB Springs for example complete with new U bolts and rubber bushes in the springs have been fitted along with slightly longer shock absorbers as the new springs probably lifted the Land Rover by a couple of inches.
The shocks are not expensive extended shocks but Discovery 1 rear shocks fitted to the rear and LWB One Ton shocks fitted to the front and to all intent and purposes look just like standard . They are in fact longer and fatter than the standard 109 shocks and work a treat for half the price of extended shocks.
Also fitted is a remote brake servo so the brakes are now a lot lot better with less pressure needed on the pedal.
Heated front screens fitted and work on a ten minute timer, just flick the switch for an extra ten minutes.

This vehicle is North of the Line in Ayrshire, Scotland, yes I know it's a long way to travel if you live south of Manchester but sometimes one has to travel to get the best available.
I once did a trip from Scotland to Windsor many years ago to buy a Range Rover and it was a trip well worth it as it was the best Range Rover I ever bought.

As with all Land Rovers I will probably tinker with it to improve it as time goes on but for now it's pretty much done and dusted and road legal.
It's also had the front crank oil seal replaced ( picture 4 ) and a new front pulley fitted to go with the new seal, that way you know the jobs done right and a new water pump fitted at the same time. ( front crank seal now altered so that it can be replaced in the future from outside of the front cover instead of having to take the front cover off ) A worthwhile modification.

It doesn't get used very often, maybe once every couple of weeks on a shopping trip and yes it puts a smile on my face every time I drive it just knowing that it's Tax Free.
There is a Dog Guard fitted between the front seats and the rear compartment, It's not a bought one its home made, why would I buy one when its just as easy to make one and this one fits better than any bought one.
Also there is another mesh screen with opening centre door fitted 4 foot back from the front bulkhead which leaves just over 2 foot space to the rear door, so you still have space for your shopping while your pet dog has its own space in the back and can only look at your shopping in the back instead of eating it!
The mesh screen can be removed easily without leaving any unwanted holes as it was made to measure and fitted using existing bolt holes within the vehicle.

Feel Free to ask any Questions
Just send them down the line and I'll get back to you as soon as I can.
Take care / Keep Safe and hopefully Virus free and happy hunting for your next Land Rover.
This is not a must sell but everything in this life has a price and that price is £15000

From some of the other Series Land Rover I have seen round and about I might be as well hanging on to this one as it is well above average condition and very handy to have just standing around as a second vehicle, for example if I need to take my Discovery off the road to do maintenance work on it.

I have registered on the TFL. gov. uk site and this is what has come back
