The 400, unveiled at the 1976 Paris Motor Show, is the first Ferrari available with an automatic transmission and is part of Ferrari’s longest ever production series (with the 365GT4 2+2 and 412). In 1982, the 400i would receive a significant update, including new camshaft profiles and exhaust headers raising engine power to 315 PS. The interior was significantly revised, gaining different upholstery, door panels, centre console and new electronic switchgear. On the exterior, there were additional changes, including panels in body colour, more elegant wing mirrors bearing a small Ferrari shield and more. A total of 883 Automatic 400i’s (both S1 and S2) were produced.

APA 26Y was supplied new to Sheikh Harlan Al-Maktoum of the royal family of Dubai via Maranello of Egham on 29 April 1983 and is presented in a PTO blue metallic with contrasting Sabbia hide and carpets. APA 26Y had 4 subsequent documented keepers before it was purchased by Whitewebbs Museum in February of 2013 with 35, 963 miles on the odometer before being acquired by its current custodian in late 2020. The current mileage sits at 36, 056.

APA 26Y comes accompanied with 3 folders of documentation including the original wallet with various owners manuals and service books, as well as a comprehensive workshop manual and a folder consisting of vehicle history including information on previous keepers with a number of sales invoices, previous advertisements and v5 documents, MOT certificates every year from 1986-2005 and a number of invoices and informative documents including even a paint mixing formula.
