1958 Moretti 750 TOUR DU MONDE Top restored, Only 15.680 miles, t For Sale

Do you still remember Moretti? Moretti Motors was established in 1925 by Giovanni Moretti. Moretti was a proud man whose ultimate aim was to produce cars under his sole management. The cars Moretti built were good, even very good. They were that good that between 1952 and 1955 two journalists made a “Tour du Monde” in a Moretti 600 Giardinetta. So convinced of his prowess he sealed the engine which almost effortless managed the 120, 000 km event! To celebrate this feat Moretti unveiled the Moretti 750 Tour du Monde at the 1957 Turin car show.

In 1958 this car was supplied when new In California, the United States. It spent a long part of its life in Colorado. In 1989 the car was sold to Maurice James Ogier on the British island of Guernsey. At this stage, it had only run some 8, 000 miles. The Moretti was in great shape and needed little to get it going again. Whilst it was regularly in use it did not clock up a huge amount of mileage. In 1994 Mr Ogier took part in the Monte Carlo Challenge. Eventually, he decided to offer the car for sale in 2019. Now the total mileage still stood at only 15, 117 miles. Whilst still fully original it was now in need of an extensive restoration effort.

The bodywork was taken back to bare metal. A combination of low mileage, the dry climate at the start of her life and a heated garage on Guernsey have kept the car completely rust-free, allowing immediate preparation for its respray. It received back its original two-tone colour finish making it look great. At the same time, they intensively investigated the correct colour scheme for the interior trim. Eventually, they chose well-fitted blue carpets with navy blue leather edging and white piped navy blue leather for the seating. They employed the same style Moretti did in the ’50s. Both interior and exterior are a veritable feast to behold. The car looks factory fresh. We seldom come across such high-quality workmanship with cars in this price range.

Mechanically the car was thoroughly serviced. Where it was needed parts were replaced. The engine is still original and runs perfectly with precise gear change as well. The car is delightfully light to handle matched with equally reassuring sturdy road-holding. Thanks to its low mileage and excellent care, the car has escaped the need for a full overhaul.

The excellently executed restoration completed this year has also been marvellously recorded. The Moretti comes with an extensive photo album and a thick file of documentation. The car’s history has been put to paper, there are copies of past test results as well as invoices for various work done. Furthermore, there are a number of technical information sheets. This is truly an exceptional Moretti 750 Tour du Monde which has been lovingly restored to a fantastic condition. price in Euros € 77. 999,-
