1956 Jaguar Mk1 SOLD

Jaguar Mk 1 1956 2. 4 litre - one owner since new
This car is in Derbyshire and is in original condition, having been bought new by the current owner, my father, in 1956. It has been previously advertised, and whilst it has received lots of positive feedback, we are still looking for an owner to lead it into its next chapter! A rare find, it is in original condition and was bought directly from the main dealer, Sanderson and Holmes Jaguar (Derby). How many cars are still owned by the original owner after 66 years?
It has been used every year of its life, has been laid up every winter and has never been used on wet, salty roads. My father has proudly driven it for family weddings and been the only person to drive it! He has decided, now that he is 90 years old, that the car should be cherished by someone new.
It starts on the button and purrs just as it should. It has the reliable 4 speed manual gearbox with working overdrive. These cars are capable of speeds of over 100 mph.
The Jaguar has never needed any welding. The paintwork is original, but could be made to gleam like it did back in 1956. My father has always kept it protected with thick old-fashioned wax and has never used T-Cut or any other abrasive product on it.
The dashboard is made from a quality walnut, and the seats are red leather. The original valve radio works well.
The car comes with a supply of original, hard to come by Jaguar spares that my father has picked up from car rallies over the years. These include pairs of carbs, lights, light lenses and brake parts.
As you'd expect, the car comes with its original toolkit and service manual.
We have several photos of the car taken over the years and the servicing has been meticulously documented.
The car comes with its originally issued registration number KCH3 which we feel strongly should go with the Jag to its new owner rather than be sold separately. This registration plate is valuable in its own right.
As you would expect, there are a few things which need attention after all this time:
The steering wheel has become cracked over the years so needs refurbishment or replacement.
The seat base of one of the front seats has some damage from an oil spillage many years ago, so needs an expert repair. The rest of the leather is in lovely condition.
The driver’s side window doesn't wind down. The cause hasn't been fully investigated, so is probably a simple fix.
Back in the 1970’s my father was told by the MOT station that the car needed prominent orange indicators that could be clearly seen from the rear, therefore he drilled and fixed them on top of the back wings. These indicators have subsequently been removed leaving three small filled holes and some slightly mismatched paint, but no rust. These could be made invisible again with a little effort.
Due to the car being recently incorrectly jacked, the rear jacking points have been bent upwards slightly.
My father's car is an extremely rare find in its unspoilt condition. Many cars of this age have suffered accident damage, amateur restoration, engine changes, badly thought-out modifications, welding, etc. This car, however, has survived in an original condition.
Offers over £24k are invited for the car, to include its original registration number. The cost of the car reflects the rarity of this original car and the work which is needed.
The seller is prepared to consider retaining the original registration number and applying an age-appropriate number to the car. There would then be scope for negotiation on the cost of the car.

When people think about a fifties Jaguar, they often look at the XK’s but it were the small saloons that were vital to Jaguar. In fact, if the 3.4 and 2.4 litre ‘Mark 1’ cars had not been introduced, there may well have been no E-type, XJ6 and certainly not the Mark 2 years later. For us, the 3.4 litre (later refered ...
