Triumph TR3B , so only 3, 331 built, mostly TSF Commission numbers & identical to the TR3A with 1995cc engine, later ones like mine are TCF Commission numbers with the TR4 2138cc engine and all synchro gearbox and (Graham Robson quote) ''the TCF TR3Bs are very coveted machines'' This is a rare TR3B NOT a TR3A.
1962 Triumph TR3B in Spa White. BMIHT Certificate confirms that the car has the chassis, engine, body numbers and colour configurations that it left the factory with. The car has never been dismantled or rebuilt, so is likely one of the most original Bs left. The original carbs have been replaced with HS6 (TR6) units, the original steel wheels are powder coated and a set of 60 spoke wire wheels are included with excellent tyres on both sets of wheels. The car has halogen headlights and a multi blade cooling fan. The hood and tonneau have been replaced, the seats recovered in leather, and the front apron and wings painted due to stone chips. The engine was rebuilt at 85, 000 miles and a rear crank Revington oil seal fitted at 111, 000 miles. Apart from that, a fairly comprehensive set of records suggests that routine maintenance has been the only other interference. It appears never to have been involved in any major accident, towing straps having left the most obvious (minor) defects on the lower edges of the rear wings. Photos show the car when exhibited at the NEC Birmingham Classic Car show on steel wheels, and more recently when changed to wire wheels. When examined by a Triumph engineer in Denver, the car was described as ''obscenely original'' and remains so. The car drives well with good oil pressure and has great patina. The car was dispatched on Sept 18th 1962 to Standard Triumph in Los Angeles and sold to its original owner who kept it till 1970. A dealer in San Jose passed it to its second owner who kept it till 1977. She sold it to her brother who kept it for 18 years, moving to West Virginia and then Colorado. He recorded a 5 day 2, 500 mile trip averaging 32. 5mpg when he collected it, and the story was published in ?The Triumph Herald?, the monthly magazine of the Rocky Mountain Triumph club (sticker still on the windscreen and original magazine included with lots of other history!!) with a photo of the car on the front cover. Fourth owner in Colorado kept it for 11 years and I purchased it from its 6th owner in Atlanta, Georgia in 2011. The car will come with a new MOT and ready to drive.
Car can be delivered anywhere in the UK at this price, and may consider an exchange for a similar value early TR6
