In 1960 Pininfarina built a Coupe version of the Fiat 1500 cabriolet, the 1500, 1500S and 1600S coupes, extremely rare cars. The 'S' cars were powered by the final iteration of the Maserati brothers OSCA Twin Cam engine used by Fiat before its own Lampredi designed engine appeared in the 124. The 1500S was introduced as the 1200 was deemed too underpowered for a sports car and Fiat needed something to compete with the English sports cars of the day, it ran until 1962 to be replaced by the 100hp 1600S, this initially had an asymetrical bonnet scoop but this was dropped a year later by lowering the engine by an inch to give the desired flat bonnet, production ended in 1966 with 300 having been built.

This is a 1963 1600S it is a very original unrestored car only the lower sides have been painted the rest is factory paint, it also has the original leather interior. It was brought over to the UK in 2014 and much work was carried out in the shape of re sealed gearbox, re chromed bumpers, re cored radiator fitted with a thermostatic electric fan with manual overide, re furbished wheels and new tyres (all 5) and much service work. I then bought it in 2020 and also continued to improve the car. It has had a higher ratio diff fitted (original with the car) and slightly higher aspect tyres to reduce engine revs at motorway speeds. Strengthened steering box mount which has improved the straight ahead drive immensely, new rear rear spring hanger bushes, new brake master cylinder and now using DOT 5 brake fluid, calipers were fully purged. New fuel tank sender. It has also been set up on a rolling road. It drives incredibly well, uses no oil and surprisingly for an old car the oil stays clean for a good while. Original supplying dealer sticker on the boot.

This must be one of only perhaps two or three totally original cars left and certainly in one of the better colour schemes.
