The Audi 100 was produced between 1968 and 1994 and was the company's largest car since the revival of the Audi brand by Volkswagen in 1965. By 1987, the C3 or 3rd Edition boasted 10 engine variants from 1. 8L to 2. 5L in both petrol and diesel guise and manual or automatic transmission. Aerodynamics were key to fuel efficiency, and as the world awoke to the importance of this, they in turn awoke to the futuristic Audi ovals. Indeed, the 1983 Audi 100 edged out the Ford Sierra to be awarded the 1983 European Car of the Year.
