Description
Following the death of our client and friend Thierry, we are offering on behalf of his sons this 1977 PUMA GTB.
PUMA is somewhat known in Europe for its GT 1600 based on a VW platform.
But few realise that, in the same period between 1974 and 1978, Puma sold in Brazil another quite different model built on the mechanicals of the Chevrolet Opala.
The recipe, however, remained similar: a chassis/ running gear/ mechanics from a major manufacturer (Chevrolet) and a polyester body.
A typical 1970s American Muscle Car look. The engine is a Chevrolet inline six of 4. 1 litres (250S – 171 SAE hp).
To our knowledge, the only Series 1 example in Europe (we know of another example in England, but that is a Series 2 after the 1978 restyling). At the time it was the most expensive vehicle sold in Brazil. It was produced in 708 units.
4 seats, leather interior, air conditioning, sound system.
It is in good cosmetic and mechanical condition. It has just undergone a full service with valve-clearance adjustment, ignition service, carburettor cleaning and overhaul, engine oil change, differential, gearbox, etc.
New paint. The chassis is completely sound, with no corrosion. Period alloy wheels 14-inch (10 inches rear and 9 inches front). Hankook tyres at 90% tread.
The exhaust line with its single stainless steel silencer produces a particularly pleasant sound!
The appeal of driving an unusual, unique car built on a simple and robust design!
Vehicle maintained by our workshop and viewable at our premises
Technical inspection OK. French historic (collection) vehicle registration.
