nicknamed “Pagoda” due to the distinctive shape of their hardtop, these SLs were among the grande routières favourites of their era and remain highly sought after by collectors.
With timeless class and charm, the Mercedes-Benz SL Pagode embodies all the finish quality and reliability expected by the star-badged customers, all complemented by a six-cylinder inline engine that is as torquey, melodious and pleasant as you’d expect.
Today, without hesitation, a sure-fire classic in the collection (19, 381 units produced).
This model on DJEF AUTO’s consignment is in excellent condition, having benefited from a body restoration a few years ago, with no signs of accidents or impacts. Paint, chrome, bodywork and glazing are in excellent condition. The re-upholstery is brand new and the woodwork has been refinished.

The interior of this Mercedes-Benz 230SL Pagode has been carefully rebuilt to mint condition very recently. Work carried out with meticulous attention to detail.
The complete upholstery, made with high-quality materials, has been redone to provide optimal comfort and refined aesthetics.
Every component has been meticulously restored to preserve the originality of this icon, with particular care given to finishing the wood trim, which has been varnished to reveal its full beauty and shine.

Engine/ Transmission:
- Good operation of the inline six-cylinder block of 2436 cm3
- Instant start, both cold and warm. Stable idling, all hoses in good condition.
- All original instrumentation functional
- Engine in excellent condition and regularly serviced.
- New belts, door seals replaced. Front suspension new.
- Wheel bearing adjustments.
- Brake pads (with brake fluid changed).
- Front suspension new.
- Valve cover gasket new. Oil changes and filters up to date.
- During the dynamic test, no abnormal rattles from the body or running gear (tie rods, control arms, etc.) were noted.
- The road test conducted by our workshop confirms a very healthy engine.
- Braking is aligned, stable and in keeping with period standards.
- Start is immediate, with no smoke or suspicious noises.
- Idling is stable and the engine does not overheat.
Once up to temperature, the six-cylinder revs cleanly. The engine note is very pleasant.
Oil pressure measured cold by our workshop is within spec. In motion, the engine breathes freely without hesitation or overheating.
The four gears of the manual gearbox shift smoothly, with no hiccups, particularly around the synchros; clutch grip is good.
Today it is a much-loved collector car; this beautiful Mercedes-Benz 230SL Pagode is ready to hit the road for new adventures.
