You know when you’re idly having a scroll through Car & Classic<\/a> only to happen upon something that just looks… right? It could be a car you have always lusted after, that all of a sudden looked even better in a previously unseen colour. It might be a car you have never given a passing thought to, but all of a sudden an advert captures your eyeballs and you’re left wondering what you can sell to buy said car. Basically, what we’re saying is that Car & Classic is full of cars that captivate. Like, for example, this glorious gold 1982 Porsche 911 SC<\/a>. The G Series Porsche is a looker in any spec, but there is something about this one. The period colour, the Fuchs wheels, the unapologetically anachronistic interior. It’s just… glorious.<\/p>\n

\"911,<\/a><\/p>\n

The SC, or Sport Carrera, was introduced to help streamline the 911 model range. There was this, which replaced the Carrera (though that model would come back in later years) and of course, the mighty 930 Turbo. The SC went through a number of evolutions, of which this car is the latest. It packs the most powerful version of the 3.0 derived from the Turbo model – 204bhp. According to the seller, this 911 was a very lightly optioned car when it was ordered in 1982. However, it has been through some changes over the years. It now wears that defining rear spoiler, and it sits on a set of stunning staggered Braid Fuchs-style alloy wheels, which fill the arches far better than the original ‘cookie cutter’ alloys. Though the factory alloys are included, should you want to go back to stock.<\/p>\n

\"911,<\/a><\/p>\n

The interior is a welcome assault on the senses. Brown and tan Pascha trim is present and correct, and all in excellent condition. This 911 SC has done 84k, so there are some signs of use, but think of it as a comfortable, perfectly broken in cabin. It’s not tired in any way. In fact, the whole car is in excellent order by the looks of things. It’s a car that has been used, but maintained accordingly. The engine was rebuilt 20,000 miles ago by MR Performance Cars and there is a \u00a37,200 invoice to back it all up. The 915 gearbox was also rebuilt around the same time, so that feels fresh, sharp and direct.<\/p>\n

\"911,<\/a><\/p>\n

It’s also lived a bit of a jet-set life. It was ordered new in Germany, but in UK specification. As such, it comes with German documentation, including proof of the first 800km’run in’ service. After that, the car went to Jersey, where it lived until 1997 when it came over to the mainland. There is a brimming history file with the car covering everywhere it’s been, all works carried out and with all the invoices to support it. This 911 SC is, make no mistake, quite the full package.<\/p>\n

It’s also special by virtue of being used. So many Porsches of this era are restored to a level that makes driving them almost impossible. This one, however, is a car to be used. It’s still a stunner, there’s no doubt, but it’s one that you can drive in the spirit of what its engineers had in mind. It can be used as a Porsche 911 should be. To be honest, to buy this and hide it away apart from three weekends each summer would be nothing short of criminal. It’s a glorious, exciting, brash machine that will bring you miles and miles of smiles.
