It is in fact an Aston Martin DB4 Zagato from today, here, 2019. And that\u2019s pretty special. The car is part of Aston Martin\u2019s impressive Continuation programme, which sees the firm bring back cars from the past. So far there has been the DB4 GT Continuation of 2017, of which 25 were built. Then there is the \u2018Goldfinger\u2019 DB5, which will come to market in 2020. And of course, now there\u2019s this, the DB4 Zagato Continuation.<\/span><\/p>\n<style>.embed-container { position: relative; padding-bottom: 56.25%; height: 0; overflow: hidden; max-width: 100%; } .embed-container iframe, .embed-container object, .embed-container embed { position: absolute; top: 0; left: 0; width: 100%; height: 100%; }<\/style>\n<div class=\"embed-container\"><iframe src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/n1FueV79HWo\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">What you\u2019re looking at here is the first of nineteen brand-new DB4 Zagatos, all built by hand and all built to be as faithful as possible to the cars of old. No nut, rivet, wire or bolt has escaped serious consideration and attention during the build process, and it shows. Even the paint has had countless hours spent on it, with Aston martin working with ICI and original paint supplier Max Meyer to deliver a faultless and tone perfect recreation of the DB4 Zagato\u2019s \u201860s Rosso Maja hue.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-1248\" src=\"https:\/\/www.carandclassic.co.uk\/magazine\/app\/uploads\/2019\/06\/Aston-Martin-DB4-GT-Zagato-Continuation-7-2000x1334.jpg\" alt=\"Aston Martin, Aston martin DB4 Zagato, DB4, Zagato, Zagato Continuation, DB4 interior\" width=\"2000\" height=\"1334\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.carandclassic.com\/magazine\/app\/uploads\/2019\/06\/Aston-Martin-DB4-GT-Zagato-Continuation-7-2000x1334.jpg 2000w, https:\/\/www.carandclassic.com\/magazine\/app\/uploads\/2019\/06\/Aston-Martin-DB4-GT-Zagato-Continuation-7-800x534.jpg 800w, https:\/\/www.carandclassic.com\/magazine\/app\/uploads\/2019\/06\/Aston-Martin-DB4-GT-Zagato-Continuation-7-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.carandclassic.com\/magazine\/app\/uploads\/2019\/06\/Aston-Martin-DB4-GT-Zagato-Continuation-7-765x510.jpg 765w, https:\/\/www.carandclassic.com\/magazine\/app\/uploads\/2019\/06\/Aston-Martin-DB4-GT-Zagato-Continuation-7-1020x680.jpg 1020w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 2000px) 100vw, 2000px\" \/><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">That paint is splashed (with care) on a body made of 1.2mm hand-formed aluminium which is assembled by man, not machine. However, unlike the designers of the \u201860s, Aston Martin and Zagato \u2013 between which there has been a relationship for over fifty years \u2013 have used modern computing power and digital design techniques to ensure the body of the Continuation is millimetre perfect in comparison to the original car, and of course, the remaining eighteen to be built.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Inside, it\u2019s 1960s business as usual, though if you look closely, you\u2019ll see there are some modern antics going on. For example, under that Obsidian Black leather there are carbon fibre race seats. The kind of stuff that would have blown minds back in the day, but more importantly than that, it\u2019s a lot safer than the original kit, which is good. And as you\u2019d expect, there is a brace of three pairs of carburettors, too. Just imagine the noise.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The car is, as you can see, nothing short of magnificent. We love to see manufacturers putting so much attention on their heritage, so a car like this gets two big thumbs up from us. For the two, it will cost an eye-watering \u00a36,000,000. But that\u2019s not the big issue. No, that comes in the form the DB4 Zagato being track only, as in, you won\u2019t be able to drive it on the road. And that\u2019s a crying shame.
