It’s been a minute, what with Covid halting our plans to film stuff. Plus, we’ve been busy making sure our auction platform<\/a> is the best out there, which has taken a lot of our time. Now though, with all our ducks in a row and with the pandemic calming down, we have been able to go out and start filming again. And the first film we have is a doozy of a barn find. It’s a genuine barn, on a legitimate farm, and it’s literally brimming with cars and an incredible amount of new old stock parts from the British Leyland range. Incredible, truly.<\/p>\n

What’s coming for Car & Classic Video?<\/span><\/strong><\/h3>\n

Before we get into the Triumphs, we wanted to take a moment to tell you what we have planned. We know video is important, and we know that YouTube in 2021 is basically a TV channel. As such, we want to make sure we bring you as much content as possible to satiate your classic car needs. As such, next year we’re going to be rolling out a barn find video every month, as well as a car profile video\/road test based on what you lot are searching for on the site. We’ll be having a look around classic car collections, and we might even throw in the odd road trip or two as well. Basically, we’re going to be bringing you fresh, exciting, exclusive content on a pleasingly regular basis, so please do subscribe to our YouTube channel<\/a> so yo don’t miss out.<\/p>\n

Right then, back to this barn find…<\/span><\/strong><\/h3>\n

When you hear the term ‘barn find’ today, you can be forgiven for rolling your eyes before turning your cynicism up to eleven. Calling cars ‘barn finds’ is cool these days. It can be a way for someone to add an air of mystery to an otherwise dull machine. Call your car a barn find, and you might get a couple more quid for it. The reality, however, is that for all these cars to be legitimate barn finds, the country would have to have no free space. It would need to be full of, well, barns. But does that mean every barn find is a con? No, of course not. They are, if you look hard enough, still out there. What we found in this video is indeed a real, grade A, genuine barn on an actual farm. And as barn finds go, it is pretty damn spectacular.<\/p>\n

The backstory is a familiar one. One impassioned man has spent literal decades amassing a collection of cars. In this case, those cars are Mk2 Triumph<\/a> 2000 and 2500 models. Think of a classic Triumph today, and you think of Heralds, Spitfires and TRs. The big saloons of the ’60s and ’70s are all but forgotten. That’s what makes this find so special. There are six of them here, all in varying states of disrepair. Outside, there is a 2500 estate and a rather lovely 2000 saloon. Inside, there is an original shell that has never actually been a complete car, there is a PI with the mechanical fuel injection, a 2500 and another 2000. It’s a staggering collection of what is now a very, very rare car.<\/p>\n

The cars aren’t the only thing of note in this barn though. In fact, the cars are but a wheeled aperitif ahead of what surrounds them. You see, the chap who has amassed this collection of cars has also amassed an utterly staggering amount of parts. And not used parts. What he has here are racks upon racks of new old stock (NOS) parts. Steering wheels, gauges, trim, badges, mechanical parts, engines, axles, hubs, clutches, brakes, brake servos, grilles and even a cage full of factory wrapped Triumph sun-visors. And it’s not all Triumph stuff. There are new, unused badges from Mini Clubmans, grilles from MG Maestros, decal kits… the list goes on. It’s a bewildering amount of parts. The owner and the building’s landlord are working through them all slowly, so as to hopefully find new homes for them all, but with literally hundreds of thousands of parts, it’s slow going. There’s a website, but it’s not a business as such. Just two keen chaps trying their hardest!<\/p>\n

In the video, we have a look at the cars (which will be coming to our auction platform early next year) before heading into the Aladdin’s Cave of parts and other cars. With only one day to shoot, and short winter hours to work around, we couldn’t rummage in every corner. However, we did dig out some utterly brilliant stuff.
