It’s that time of year again folks. The temperature has dropped and we’re getting ever closer to having to break out the de-icer (or the credit card because you can’t for the life of you remember where you left the scraper). Whether it’s been a summer of wind in the hair, top down motoring or cursing the heatwave as you sit in traffic with broken air conditioning that you promised yourself you’d get fixed, those thoughts of stubborn classics refusing to start on crisp winter mornings have long been expunged. All of the cumulative horrors of years of owning and driving classic cars came rushing back the other day, however, as we rose at the crack of a particularly chilly dawn to make our way to the Sunday Scramble at Bicester Heritage. Imagine our surprise, and indeed disappointment, as all of the windows in our Volvo 940 immediately fogged up the moment our bum hit the driver’s seat, highlighting, rather embarrassingly, that it has been a long, long time since we polished the inside of said glass. Fortunately we have a bottle of Autoglym Car Glass Polish in the garage and so it was the perfect opportunity to give it a whirl.<\/p>\n

The Product<\/span><\/strong><\/h3>\n

You should know by now, dear reader, that we’re a fan of Autoglym. We’ve featured a few of its products in this series<\/a> and we can’t remember the last time we didn’t have at least one item from its impressive oeuvre on our shelves or in a cupboard somewhere. Case in point is the Autoglym Car Glass Polish we happened to have tucked away. Not only will this stuff<\/a> remove all stubborn films both inside and out, creating a crystal clear surface, but it also eliminates wet weather smearing and improves wiper action. You don’t have to stop with your classic car either as it can be utilised equally as effectively on the windows of your house. Or boat. Or caravan. Anything made of glass basically.<\/p>\n

The Test<\/span><\/strong><\/h3>\n

Clear windows are essential for safe driving and the state of ours was immediately highlighted when that low, early morning, retina-burning autumn sun hit our 940’s fogged up glass. Thankfully the heater works pretty well (something we are truly grateful for after the woefully abysmal units we have been used to in the past) and we were able to clear the smudges fairly quickly but it was clearly evident (pun intended) that the inside of the glass needed a good clean.<\/p>\n

The Result<\/span><\/strong><\/h3>\n

With a clean polishing cloth or microfibre towel the Car Glass Polish goes on easily enough and after waiting for it to dry it can then be buffed off using a clean portion of the cloth. We immediately noticed that there was no smearing or greasy deposits left over, just an incredibly clean window. Breathing on the section of glass we had just polished again revealed no streaks. It was eye-opening to see just how much crud was transferred to the polishing cloth, proof enough for us to continue and finish the whole car.<\/p>\n

The Verdict – 5 out of 5<\/span><\/strong><\/h3>\n

This is good stuff. It perfectly polishes glass without leaving any guff behind. It can even be used to spruce up metal screen surrounds and rubber trim pieces, negating the need for any additional products. The only downside is that it will make you unreasonably obsessive about anyone or anything touching the inside of your windows once you’re done. If you can live with that though, you should definitely fork out the modest fee of \u00a37 for a 325ml bottle<\/a> and give your glass some love.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
