Are you looking to take your toe and introduce it to its first dip into classic waters? Do you want a nice, eye-catching old machine that will bring you smiles, that will make you love classic motoring and that will turn heads? Would you rather not spend tens of thousands to do so? What you need then, is a starter classic. Something like this rather charming 1962 Singer Vogue<\/a><\/em> perhaps. It has classic lines, lashings of chrome and it’s no more complicated to work on than a toaster. If you want your fist classic, this could well be it.<\/p>\n

\"Singer<\/a><\/p>\n

The Singer Vogue was a glorious example of badge engineering, as it started life as a Hillman Super Minx. However, the Singer Vogue was positioned above it, as a more luxurious proposition. It was also more powerful, with a giddying 66bhp. The Series II, which is what we have here, came with standard disc brakes, amber indicator lenses and some changes were made to the chrome. It still had the 1,592cc inline four-cylinder engine. The design was bright and bold, with quad lights, lashing of chrome and despite being a small car, it had acres of road presence.<\/p>\n

\"Singer<\/a><\/p>\n

There is a massive following for the Singer Vouge (and all Rootes Group cars for that matter) so as a starter classic, this 1962 example would be a delightful and not too stressful choice. There are specialists and owners clubs just a call or click away. The mechanics are simple, so working on one should be no bother, and a lot of the mechanical parts were shared with other models, meaning availability is good.<\/p>\n

\"Singer<\/a><\/p>\n

This 1962 Singer Vogue<\/a><\/em> has been recently plucked from a private collection and will need a service and a quick going over before it hits the road, but it’s not a full-on project. Think of it as offering you a way with which to get familiar with it! The car was last MOTd in 2020 and has been dry stored since. The MOT history makes for pleasing reading, as there is nothing scary there. It has had some some welding in the past, but only some small bits. The car is now MOT exempt, but as always, we would encourage you to get a fresh test on it just for peace of mind if nothing else. Looking at the history, it shouldn’t be a big ask.<\/p>\n

\"Singer<\/a><\/p>\n

This Singer Vogue looks really straight and solid, with nice panels, bright chrome and nothing seems to be missing. Finished in a very period grey hue, the chrome really does pop and sparkle. The interior looks lovely, with red carpets and wooden dash with cream seats. The horizonal speedometer is a charming feature, too. It just looks like a very nice place in which to be. We dig it. You will too. And it’s a mere \u00a34,450, making it a very cheap way into the classic car world. And it’s a proper classic, at that. In fact, if we had the space, we’d be on the phone now.
