The Mercedes C-Class has been around since the mid ’90s and is still going strong, a stalwart of the Benz range. Meanwhile, AMG – the performance arm of the German giant \u2013 has been making its cars harder, better, faster and stronger for over 50 years. Put those two entities together and you get the acclaimed Mercedes C63 AMG,\u00a0making the world a much better place in the process.<\/p>\n

\"classic<\/a><\/p>\n

The third generation of Mercedes’ compact executive made its debut in 2007, which to our surprise was a whole 16 years ago. A fact that we had to double check. To put that in perspective you just have to look back to when the original C-Class was unveiled in 1994. 16 years prior to that was 1978 and the W123 hadn’t long been in production. We’re not trying to justify today’s entry in the Classified of the Week canon because of its age, don’t get us wrong. We believe the C63 AMG firmly deserves to be recognised as a burgeoning modern classic and our reverence for fast estate cars is well documented. Our attempts at turning our own Volvo 940 Turbo wagon into a snarling Swedish beast are ongoing after all, so when this particular nuclear powered long boi popped up on the Car & Classic classifieds we very much took notice.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

What AMG did with the Mercedes C-Class is nothing short of glorious. With a normally aspirated 6.2-litre V8 under the bonnet developing a whopping 451bhp, 60mph can be dispatched in a smidge over four seconds. Coupled with 442lb ft of torque (which is enough to make the earth spin in the opposite direction, in case you were wondering) the car’s performance was and still is nothing short of phenomenal. And all this from a detuned version of Mercedes’ M156 engine compared to that which featured in other AMG offerings! Alongside improved suspension and a 7-speed automatic transmission with more modes than a double period of GCSE maths, the C63 AMG remains an impressive machine indeed.<\/p>\n

\"classic<\/a><\/p>\n

This 2010 estate model<\/a> not only looks stunning in Indigolite Blue Metallic paint but it has covered just 5,666 miles. Read that again. With only one owner from new to boot it’s practically a brand new car. A full service history completes the package and considering these cars were upwards of \u00a370,000 when new, depending on what option boxes were ticked, the sub-\u00a330K price tag seems like a bit of a bargain. This isn’t a tired old boat that’s been thrashed to within an inch of its life, it’s as close as you’re likely to get to a factory fresh example.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

The interior is just as tidy and the black nappa leather seats look like they’ve never even been sat in. The iconic flat-bottomed steering wheel features extended gear shift paddles but the list of optional extras doesn’t end there. This isn’t a bog standard, vanilla car and that list is a long one. With everything from the Audio20 Sound System to ParkTronic Front & Rear Park Assist, the latter of which being a welcome addition because you DO NOT want to be dinging this thing in Sainsbury’s car park. You will be able to fit all of your shopping in the back though. Along with your kids, dogs, cats, the entire cast of the Off-Broadway musical Fame and anything else you care to chuck in there.<\/p>\n

\"classic<\/a><\/p>\n

Universally praised upon its release, and rightly so, this is an incredible opportunity to own a practical family car with supercar performance that has hardly even been broken in. A fast wagon will always set our boats afloat and this Mercedes C63 AMG<\/a> is one of, if not the<\/em> best we’ve seen.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
