We can think of few Christmas presents better than a new car. We’re not talking brand new of course, new cars can get in the sea. Aside from a few exceptions<\/a> we have zero interest. By new we mean new to you, not new from the factory, and the thrill of picking up your next classic or project car will forever be a feeling to relish. So why not treat yourself this year and buy this<\/a> 1965 Ford Mustang? You deserve it.<\/p>\n

\"Ford,<\/a><\/p>\n

Eschew the novelty socks, bath bombs and Amazon vouchers in favour of a classic slice of V8-powered Americana. It may be a little more pricey than those usual stocking fillers but this is a no reserve listing so there is the potential for a bargain. Most of us will be too busy with family arguments and picking out the Bounties from the box of Celebrations to be worried about bidding and that, dear reader, is where you come in.<\/p>\n

What is it?<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n

The great thing about this particular pony project<\/a> is that it is a running, driving example thanks to a recent engine rebuild. And this isn’t the underpowered V6 that originally came with the car, oh no. This is a 302ci V8, a powerplant much more fitting for muscle car royalty. On top of the engine rebuild the car also received a new petrol tank, new brake drums, new brake shoes, new wheel cylinders, new brake hardware and a new master cylinder, all in 2019 totalling almost $10K, ensuring that the car stops as well as it goes.<\/p>\n

Why is it a project?<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n

At this point you may be wondering why this is listed as a project. Well, the areas that need attention are the bodywork and the interior. A stalled project due to a change of heart this Mustang is currently mid-way through the refurbishment process. Reportedly solid and structurally safe and sound the car would ideally need a full strip and re-paint as well as an interior refresh, although everything is fully functional.<\/p>\n

What should you look for?<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n

You could quite legitimately buy this and just drive it, which would be our choice, personally speaking. Enjoy it for a few months, get to know it and then begin improving it as you go. A bit of interior trim here, a refurbished set of wheels there. Before you know it you’ll be well on your way to a fully restored car, all the while revelling in the sheer joy of actually driving the thing.<\/p>\n
