From Elvis Presley’s Caddy to Paul McCartney’s tour bus, we deliver some of the best rock star’s cars to ever grace tarmac here at Car & Classic and the latest in that long and distinguished line of lucrative load luggers is this<\/a> 1967 Jag Mk X 4.2, owned by none other than the Queen of Pop herself: Madonna.<\/p>\n

\"Jaguar,<\/a><\/p>\n

Yep, if you fancy a little slice of pop past in four-wheeled form then this is the steed for you. Madge’s Jag is a rather handsome burgundy over cream leather example that benefits from a fresh engine rebuild just 2,000 miles ago. Purchased by Madonna and her son Rocco in 2021, the original Material Girl kept hold of the car until last year but in that time she invested a ton of cash in the Jag, including that aforementioned engine rebuild.<\/p>\n

\"Jaguar,<\/a><\/p>\n

As far as classic Jags<\/a> go, the Mk X is a bit of an undervalued opportunity in today’s market, often overshadowed as it is by other, more attention grabbing models from the British firm’s oeuvre. An imposing but elegantly designed luxury saloon, the Mk X was an attempt to please the American buyer, and on paper at least, looked as though it could do just that.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

\"Jaguar,<\/a><\/p>\n

Utilising a lot of the E-Type’s tech and specs, Jaguar’s latest effort, unveiled in 1961, certainly had grace, space and pace thanks to its cavernous interior and 120mph 3.8-litre straight-six, but sadly it never achieved the high hopes Sir William Lyons had for it despite being a well engineered and agile (believe it or not) four-door.<\/p>\n

A larger 4.2-litre engine was introduced in 1964 with gobs more torque, imbuing the Mk X with even more effortless performance, but this hike in power did little to improve sales and just over 25,000 Mk Xs (later renamed the 420G) were ever sold.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

An intimidating machine to the average car buyer, it was famous custodians like the Krays and Kenn Dodd that elevated the Mk X’s reputation, so it’s only fitting that a larger than life pop star would also want in on the action, albeit a few decades further down the line. Not only that but the 4.2-litre version is the rarest of the bunch with only 5,137 ever being produced equipped with the larger, 265bhp engine, with many of those sadly making their way to the big scrapheap in the sky over the last 60 years.<\/p>\n

\"Jaguar,<\/a><\/p>\n

Perhaps it was Madonna’s ex-husband Guy Ritchie who influenced her decision to buy British. Renowned for his Gangster flicks, classic Jags<\/a> have always been the steed of choice for his silver screen Cockney villains and so maybe it was the likes of characters like Bricktop and Bullet Tooth Tony in the movie Snatch<\/a> that swayed her decision. Whatever the case, this particular Jag, although recently serviced by an independent specialist, does have a slight knocking – from the engine we might add and not from any unfortunate person’s head in the driver’s door – which the vendor diagnoses as likely being bearings, tappets or a timing chain issue, so full disclosure.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

As such we would treat this as a running and driving easy project that could be fettled and tidied as you go but the fact of the matter remains you’ll be the proud owner of one of Jaguar’s finest with bona fide links to one of pop music’s most iconic performers.<\/p>\n

\"Jaguar,<\/a><\/p>\n

A bit of a bargain compared to other ’60s Jaguars, the Mk X is great value today whilst still making you feel truly special, as any good classic Jag should, and the famous provenance with this particular example is the icing on the cake.
