Those early hotted-up roadsters took old cars and lavished them with the rodder\u2019s personality. And, of course, a big, fat engine.<\/p>\n<p>Restomodders, as the slightly calmer name suggests, do something similar but, perhaps, a little more sympathetically. They also take an old car they also lavish it with extra personality, but they favour a more seamless blend of originality and upgrades.<\/p>\n<p>Why all that preamble? Because this stunning 1975 Porsche 911 is a paean to the modern restomodder\u2019s art. Created at a cost of \u00a3150,000, it combines <a href=\"https:\/\/www.motortrend.com\/features\/driving-every-generation-of-porsche-911-review\/\">classic air-cooled Porsche<\/a> \u201870s design cues with a subtly modified and upgraded aesthetic and mechanicals. Outside, it looks much like a regular, lightly modded 1970s classic Porsche 911, albeit one finished in our favourite hue of orange. But there are some subtle giveaways: the bonnet is broken up by a hole, which is filled by a bespoke, billeted aluminium fuel filler cap. At the back, the gold badge says \u2018911ST.\u2019 And there is something about the way the rear wheels sit that doesn\u2019t look quite standard\u2026<\/p>\n<p>Those are all hints at the huge work put in by blue chip Porsche restorers like <a href=\"https:\/\/www.stuttgart-classica.co.uk\/\">Stuttgart Classica<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rivieraautobody.co.uk\/\">Riviera Autobody<\/a>. The former stripped the car on a rotisserie, whilst the latter restored the body and repainted it. At the back, the suspension has been switched from torsion bars to a fully independent setup. The brakes have been beefed up, and there is a sonically sonorous bespoke exhaust system to bring it all to life.<\/p>\n<p>But we have saved the best for last. This <a href=\"https:\/\/www.topspeed.com\/10-best-restomod-porsche-brands\/\">Porsche 911 restomod<\/a>\u2019s party trick doesn\u2019t really lie in those spicy mechanicals or the beautiful orange bodywork. For that, you have to open the driver\u2019s door and look inside. Once done, you behold one of the best and most distinctive air cooled Porsche 911 interiors we\u2019ve ever seen. Gone are the blacks and vinyl of the original, in come tasteful fabrics and designs that echo this car\u2019s 70s origins. The joy of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/13stitches___\/?hl=en-gb\">13 Stitches<\/a>\u2019 work lies in the detail, like the contrast stitching, the colour-coded belts, the orange that harmonises the seats, carpet and exterior, and then there is the purple leather-topped dashboard.
