While we may not want to admit it, the first version of Mazda<\/a>\u2019s mighty MX-5 is in fact some thirty years old. We\u2019re sorry, we don\u2019t want to believe it either, primarily as we\u2019re staunch in our belief 1990 was last week. But, time marches on and we have to admit that in doing so, it has ushered the MX-5 into the realms of being a bona fide classic. This lightweight, pop-up lighted, cheeky little two-seater is a welcome addition, too. Fun, simple, and easy to work on, it has all the traits of any good classic. <\/span><\/p>\n

\"Mazda,<\/p>\n

Of course, the traits associated with being a classic aren\u2019t all positive. Old cars need love. They rust, bits break, sometimes other bits fall off. It\u2019s all part of the old car experience. And so too is spending many hours in the garage, restoring said car. And that\u2019s where modern day Mazda<\/a> comes in, because soon, you\u2019re going to be able to walk into a Mazda dealership and order brand new parts for your classic first-generation MX-5. Not many cars can boast that kind of manufacturer support. <\/span><\/p>\n

In total there are going to be 117 left hand drive and 156 right hand drive vehicle parts available to support first-generation MX-5 restoration projects. These parts will range from interior trim, complete roof assemblies, Enkei wheels and much more. But here\u2019s the thing. This isn\u2019t Mazda selling a load of NOS parts. No, Mazda engineers have reproduced them specifically for current owners of these classic cars. That means you can buy brand new stuff, made using modern engineering and manufacturing processes, direct from Mazda. Not brittle old parts that have been on a shelf for twenty years. <\/span><\/p>\n

Commenting on the increased list of official first-generation MX-5 parts that will be available to order from UK Mazda dealers, Mazda Motors UK Parts and Accessories Marketing Manager, Steve Rose said: \u201cright from its launch here in 1990, the MX-5 has always been hugely popular in the UK, so we are delighted to be able to offer Mazda Genuine Parts through our Authorised Repairer Network allowing our customers to keep their MX-5 100% Mazda\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n

Adding, \u201cwith the early cars becoming modern classics  it\u2019s great to see so many still being driven and enjoyed. Whether it\u2019s a full restoration or general maintenance, having a ready supply of genuine parts means these cars can continue to be enjoyed for years to come\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"Mazda,<\/p>\n

This is an outstanding initiative and one that we would love to see other manufacturers adopting. Too many brands seem quick to dismiss their heritage, but that shouldn\u2019t be the case. A brand’s heritage is its legacy, and a legacy is something you should look after. Fair play, Mazda. This is a brilliant move that will save a great many cars, and no doubt give a few stalled restorations the shove they need. <\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
