The Appeal
With distinctive and attractive styling, four seats, a V8 and a soft top, Triumph’s Stag is a hugely popular classic and this is reflected in the size and activity of the well-supported owners’ club. Of course, the car’s reputation when new was marred by issues with the V8 but these have long since been addressed and with proper maintenance, engine reliability is no longer the deal breaker that it once was.
Indeed, the owner of this car reports that it runs very well and, with an uprated stainless steel exhaust, it no doubt sounds great, too. Having received a respray, wheel refurbishment and interior refresh, it’s looking really smart and while there are further refinements that could be made, it’s very usable as is.
The addition of a factory hard top means that colder temperatures don’t have to stop play either; this is a classic convertible that can be used all year round and the rear seats mean that the family can come along for the ride. Good looking, sonorous and practical, it’s a truly versatile classic.
