- JDM legend
- Recent engine rebuild - thousands spent
- Rare ‘Sunrise Yellow’ paintwork
One of the definitive ‘90s hot hatches that we couldn't buy new in the UK, the JDM EK9 Honda Civic Type R featured a seam-welded shell, a highly tuned 1.6litre V-Tech engine, a limited slip differential and a close ratio gearbox.
This particular example has received a huge amount of recent mechanical work, including an engine rebuild and suspension overhaul, so it offers a great opportunity to drive a Type R in fantastic condition.
The History and Paperwork
- Imported to the UK 2009
- Three previous keepers in the UK
- Engine rebuild by Torque Developments International
- Suspension and brakes restored
- Will be supplied with a fresh MoT
- Red Recaro seats
- Air conditioning
- Original trim
The most striking feature of this little car’s interior is its fantastic red Recaro seats, which complement this car’s aesthetic brilliantly. They appear to be in great condition and will provide more than adequate support when this car is driven as spiritedly as intended.
The carpets and overmats present very nicely, with a ‘Civic Type R’ badge tastefully on display. The well-appointed dashboard features everything you would expect to find in a ‘90s hot hatch, and even has that ultimate luxury – an air conditioning switch.
- Stunning ‘Sunrise Yellow’ paintwork
- Tyres as-new
- All original bodywork
Sunrise Yellow is the perfect colour choice for a Civic Type R. It’s loud, brash and unapologetically in-your-face, everything this car is about.
The paintwork remains in good overall condition but there are a couple of areas of damage, notably a graze on the bonnet, a mark on the side skirt and the driver’s wing mirror. This particular choice of colour is said to be a rare choice on a Type R.
At the rear, there's a square number plate to advertise the car's JDM credentials, while the fog light has been neatly integrated under the rear bumper. The vendor states that the tyres are in as-new condition and that the bodywork is all original. In all, it's generally very tidy.
- Engine rebuild
- Suspension overhaul
- Mugen exhaust system
This particular vehicle has received a huge amount of attention from Torque Developments International in Essex. The accompanying documentation provided by the vendor sets out the extent of this rebuild work, including new pistons, rings, con-rods belts and much more.
A Mugen exhaust system has been fitted to enhance the car’s already fantastic exhaust note. The suspension has benefitted from new wishbones, bushes and arms, while the brakes have new callipers.
The vendor reports that this car drives like a brand new vehicle so it's ready to go
This rare JDM Honda Civic Type R comes in a flamboyant shade of yellow and has had a lot of money spent on its mechanicals. It will no doubt be a welcome sight at JDM meets but is also ready to be enjoyed as a driver's car.
