Highlights
- Equipped with HGT-C specification CCM brakes - a very costly option in period
- 5.7-litre V12 offering 199 mph performance
- Discreet and elegant styling pays homage to the 1954 Ferrari 375-MM
The Appeal
Ferrari’s second ever car to be made entirely from aluminium, the 612 Scaglietti clothed a fire-breathing V12 engine with the understated bodywork of a coachbuilt grand tourer.
Arguably the closest Ferrari ever got to building a Q-car, the Scaglietti certainly didn’t disappoint when it came to performance, boasting well in excess of 500 horsepower and a top speed just shy of 200 mph.
This 2006 example is equipped with the lightning-fast F1 automated manual gearbox and stops courtesy of carbon ceramic brakes. Having covered relatively few miles and with just 2 owners from new, it is beautifully presented and represents the perfect opportunity to acquire amongst the smartest remaining examples of this elegant grand tourer.
The History and Paperwork
- 2 owners from new
- Current Italian Revisione
- Servicing always carried out by authorised Ferrari workshops
- Always stored in a garage during current ownership
- Original document wallet
- Owner’s manuals present
- Italian registration documents
The Interior
- Black leather
- Aluminium inserts on the dashboard and centre console
- Very good original condition
Inside, this Ferrari appears to be in excellent condition and the black leather that adorns much of the interior presents exceedingly well. There is very little wear evident on the upholstery as you would expect from a car that has covered so few miles.
Upon closer inspection, a few of the interior plastics have deteriorated to a small degree, as is not uncommon with Ferraris of this vintage. The vendor informs us that everything functions exactly as it should, including the Alpine infotainment system.
The Exterior
- Daytona Black
- Yellow brake callipers and carbon ceramic brakes - an option costing some €20,000 when new
- Smart 20'' alloy wheels
This Scaglietti’s Daytona Black paintwork is in exceedingly good condition and the vendor informs us that they are unable to detect any blemishes in the lustrous finish. The bodywork appears very straight and free from corrosion or evidence of past damage.
Contributing to the 612’s understated appearance, nothing is lathered in chrome and the car only bears a simple ‘Ferrari’ script alongside the iconic prancing horse on the boot lid. The glass is apparently free from stone chips or scratches and the same goes for the light lenses. We were unable to discern any damage on the alloy wheels and we’re informed that the Pirelli tyres have plenty of tread remaining.
The Mechanics
- 5.7-litre V12 engine
- Really smart under the bonnet
- F1 automated manual gearbox
The vendor informs us that this Ferrari is the perfect grand tourer, docile and comfortable on long journeys and exceedingly fast when required. The 5.7-litre V12 purrs at idle and screams at higher speeds.
Gear changes are quick and precise thanks to Ferrari’s F1 gearbox and the 612 comes to a stop in a timely fashion courtesy of its carbon ceramic brakes. The car has a full specialist service history and, according to the vendor, performs without fault on every occasion.
Summary
This is amongst the finest examples of Ferrari’s 612 Scaglietti we have seen. Finished in the rather handsome shade of Daytona Black and presented in very good overall condition, this elegant grand tourer is something we think you should consider adding to your garage.
