The Appeal
Before Aston Martin succumbed to peer pressure and jumped on the SUV bandwagon, its executives found far more novel and in-keeping ways to develop a four-door car. Enter the Rapide, by far and away one of Aston Martin’s most notable releases.
Don’t let those two extra doors fool you, this is still a proper Aston Martin and a true “driver’s car” at that. The Rapide carried over around sixty per cent of the DB9’s drivetrain and chassis design, making extensive use of lightweight aluminium and not to forget that glorious 5.9-litre V12 engine. And what an engine it was, with a colossal 470bhp and 443lb-ft of torque sent to the rear wheels via a six-speed automatic gearbox with paddle shift. Glorious.
This 2010 example has covered a mere 56,374 miles and has benefitted from an excellent service history since day one. It’s in lovely condition and we can’t help but fall in love with the colour scheme. Eagle-eyed Aston enthusiasts will note this is a special ‘Q’ colour - Almond Green to be exact. It reminds us of Aston’s classic racing cars like the DBR1 and DB4 GT Zagato.
Beautifully presented and with its servicing right up-to-date, this Rapide awaits a new custodian; a four-door continent-crushing GT for all the family.
