The Appeal
The MG TD is one of the most recognisable British sports cars of the post-war era. Combining traditional open-top motoring with accessible performance and affordability, it played a significant role in introducing sports-car ownership to a wider audience and helped establish MG’s reputation on both sides of the Atlantic. The T-Type range remained in production until 1955, when it was succeeded by the all-new MGA.
This 1951 example was originally delivered to the United States before later returning to the UK. It benefits from a previous body-off restoration and extensive mechanical rebuild, encompassing the engine, gearbox, rear axle, suspension, brakes, and a full electrical rewire. It is presented in an attractive cream-and-red colour scheme. Whether enjoyed on relaxed country drives, at marque gatherings or as an introduction to vintage motoring, it promises an engaging and characterful ownership experience.
