The Appeal
The mid-engined 348 is a significant car in Ferrari history, being the last V8 model to be directly overseen by the great Enzo Ferrari. With styling by Pinninfarina, the 348 resembled the Testarossa and to an extent the F40, with prominent straked side vents and pop-up headlamps. The TS version retained the same drivetrain as the berlinetta, while allowing a section of the roof to be removed.
Here we have a prime example, with just 16,406 kilometres on the odometer! Presented in brilliant overall condition and apparently benefitting from full Ferrari main dealer service history, this is a truly superlative specimen. The vendor informs us that the timing belts were last changed around 2,000 kilometres ago. Cherished by only two owners in its 31 year lifetime, will you be the third person to call this Ferrari yours?

The Interior

This 348 TS’ interior has weathered the passage of time nicely, with some gentle patina to the upholstery and controls. There’s a great sense of occasion to sitting in any Ferrari and this once certainly doesn’t disappoint. A sports steering wheel - refreshingly devoid of buttons - feels great in your hands, as does the beautifully smooth gear selector. There is, of course, Ferrari’s legendary gated ‘dog-leg’ gearbox which succeeds in making the driver feel very heroic as they work their way through the box.
The driver’s seat has worn a little more heavily as one would expect. There’s some wear to the outer bolsters although nothing we would term excessive. The passenger seat exhibits very little wear and the leather remains supple throughout. The black carpeting and protective overmats look in good order without much wear to be seen. The plastics and rubbers look in good shape throughout, with just a few marks on the driver’s side sill plate as well as some corrosion to be seen atop the nearside sill inside the door shut.
We enjoy the dashboard layout in this era of Ferrari, boasting a clean design that’s not excessively cluttered. All the switchgear held within presents well with some light wear and the instrumentation looks to be in really good order.
The Exterior

The vendor informs us that the paintwork is entirely original, which is quite remarkable with a car of this vintage. Considering its age, the finish still looks great, holding a lustrous shine and with very few blemishes. We noticed a few stone chips on the nose and the odd mark here and there, but really nothing particularly noticeable.
The bodywork looks to be really straight too, with no visible damage to any of the panels, or indeed any signs of corrosion under the paint. The vendor assures ut aht the underside is in really good order, commensurate with the condition of the remainder of the car.
All the glass looks smart, as do the light lenses and badges. The removable roof section detaches in the manner that it should and remains in nice shape. We spotted some light kerbing and general age related deterioration to the alloy wheels, but this doesn’t detract from this Ferrari’s overall tidiness.

We understand this 348 TS to be in fine fettle when it comes to the mechanicals. With an apparent history of main dealer servicing, a fairly recent timing belt change and very few kilometres under its belt, this Ferrari still feels sprightly and tight.
The vendor reports that it drives immensely well, with ample performance and no issues to report. It’s hard to beat the experience of driving a classic Ferrari, with that exquisite gearbox and a sonorous V8 mounted just behind your head.

Seldom does one encounter such an original example of this coveted Ferrari, let alone one that’s been judiciously serviced throughout its life, with few owners and kilometres.
