The Appeal
The Phase 3 V70 R AWD represents the final and most developed iteration of Volvo's first-generation P80 high-performance estate. Produced only for the 2000 model year, it paired the classic boxy silhouette with an upgraded powertrain delivering 261bhp from its high-pressure turbocharged inline five-cylinder, all-wheel drive with a mechanical rear limited-slip differential, and a unique five-speed adaptive automatic gearbox exclusive to this single production year.
This example wears the Laser Blue Metallic paint that was reserved for these late-run Phase 3 cars, complemented inside by blue instrument gauges, diamond-stitched leather and fabric seats, and Dolby Surround Pro Logic audio. It comes with a good history file documenting regular servicing from December 2000 onwards, and has benefited from considerable recent investment, including a gearbox overhaul with new torque converter and valve body in 2018, an ECU replacement in 2022, a steering rack repair in 2023, corroded fuel line replacement in 2024, and a starter motor change last month.
