The Appeal
Mazda produced many special editions, but some are more special than others. Like the extremely rare Jasper Conran edition, of which just 100 ‘Platinum Edition’ cars were built. Created with input from the famed designer, these cars featured silver paintwork with red leather interiors.
This 48,000-mile car is number nine of that run. It is in fine condition and, a plus for enthusiasts, unmodified and retaining all of its Conran features. It has been little used since 2018. This is confirmed by MOT records, which show around 500 miles since the 2018 MOT test. It has recently been fitted with new tyres and a battery. and has undergone a service. The current MOT runs to June 2026 with no advisories.
For many, including modern reviewers, the Mk2 MX5 is the one to have. This well-kept special edition ratchets up the desirability further with its rare specification.
The vendor says:
“The red seating is fantastic, the fact it turns on a sixpence and the sound of the engine makes you feel like you are really driving a sports car.”
