The Appeal
It was a threat implicit since Aston Martin unveiled the DB9. In 2005 the firm delivered, creating a small, agile and characterful sports car that took the fight right to the bootlid of Porsche’s 911.
Where the German car was clinical and ubiquitous, the V8 Vantage was charismatic and hand-built. But it was the Porsche’s equal: its 4.3litre V8 delivered 380bhp via a chassis that was both engaging and nimble. Enthusiasts naturally picked the 6spd manual.
This low mileage Onxy Black V8 has the manual box and benefits from a significant power upgrade with 200 cell sports cats. The key with any Aston Martin is the maintenance and service history, which is where this car scores - it has been looked after to a high standard by main dealers and specialists like Nicholas Mee. A long MOT without advisories to October 2024 underlines the impression of a well kept car.
The V8 Vantage is one of Aston Martin’s greats. If you’re rediscovering it or new to it, this one looks enticing.
