Opis

1953 Healey Abbott DHC

We have the pleasure to be able to offer this incredibly rare motor car.

We are told only 77 Abbott Drophead Coupes were ever made and there are only 33 known survivors.

The Donald Healey Motor Company completed its first car in 1945, going into production in Warwick in 1946.

The Healey Motor Company first offered the Elliott Sports Saloon and Westland Roadster, both powered by the superb Riley four-cylinder 2. 4 litre engine.

For a short time, it is said the Elliott was the world's fastest closed four-seater production car, clocking 110mph at Jabbeke, Belgium in 1947. In 1950 the Elliott and Westland were replaced by the Tickford Saloon and Abbott Drophead Coupe, both of which had an improved chassis incorporating Girling brakes.

These later models were more refined and better equipped than their predecessors. Despite being a heavier car, they were still capable of 100mph. Production of the Healey Abbott ceased in 1954 by which time just 77 had been built.

This beautiful Healey Abbott Drophead Coupe is a very fine original example and is being sold by the current owner owing to health problems, not something he ever wanted to do. With some small improvements like electric power steering, makes the car a real pleasure to drive any distance.
