The Appeal
First appearing in 1952, the AP22 - Allgaier-Porsche 22hp - was a natural development of Porsche’s tractor selection, which first hit the market in 1937. With a new 22hp engine, these beautifully designed ‘people’s tractors’ carried an unusual level of styling for what, in essence, was a piece of industrial machinery. Manufactured under license by Allgaier GMBH, these became a common sight in mainland Europe, and continue to be a highly desirable example of mid-century design.
This example comes to us in great order with plentiful branding and an iconic red and white livery. It’s the sort of machine that demands attention from even the most casual layman - so it’ll no doubt have enthusiasts weak at the knees.
