The Appeal
The Nekaf Jeep M38A1 is effectively an adapted Willys Jeep - stocked up and modified with local parts to comply with Dutch traffic laws, by order of the Dutch military.
Production began in 1955 under "Nederlandsche Kiser-Frazer" (Nekaf), with around 55 of them rolling off of the line per week. A total of about 7,500 of these Nekaf Jeeps were produced, and they proved so capable that they managed to outstay their successor quite ably.
In the late 1970s, Land Rovers rustled in on their territory and took over, steadily replacing them over the next 26 years. Finally, in 1996, the last Nekaf Jeep left service - giving the model a remarkable 41 years before complete retirement.
This particular example has recently undergone a thorough €2,500 maintenance, ensuring it is in top condition. Supplied with a host of military manuals and booklets, it also comes with a nicely-maintained military trailer. This unusual military classic is still remarkably practical and eminently usable.
