THE APPEAL

Sold from 1957, the Lancia Flaminia sedan, with its large proportions, its imposing and austere bodywork and with its spacious interior which greatly emphasized the comfort of the rear passengers, was proposed more as a luxurious limousine than as a dynamic sedan like the previous Aurelia.
Equipped with a large displacement V6 and produced in very small numbers, the Flaminia was for many years the most luxurious and comfortable car produced in Italy, so much so that it was associated with the very idea of an executive sedan used by the highest State officials.

Its extremely innovative lines, penned by Pininfarina and inspired by the Florida prototype, represented a clear break with the past and the birth of a totally new automotive design concept, with clearly separated volumes, less organic and rounded shapes and fenders completely integrated into the bodywork.

The bodywork largely retains the original paint and has been restored with delicacy and respect only where necessary, while the sumptuous interior has been completely restored with great care and period-correct materials and allows us to appreciate the great comfort offered to the passengers, pampered by comfortable leather couches showing exquisite workmanship and soft wool carpets.

Sold new to the entrepreneur Angelo Filippone, President of the Turin football team at the time, this Flaminia has had only four previous owners and has always been maintained with the utmost care and MOTd.

It is accompanied by its Libretto di Circolazione registration certificate, which furtherly enhance the authenticity of its presentation.

Having received a comprehensive restoration just a few months ago, with materials corresponding to those used at the time, the passenger compartment is in almost like new condition, with a truly remarkable level of finish.

The cabin has been completely disassembled and cleaned, as demonstrated by the extensive photographic documentation available.

The seats, doors and dashboard have been trimmed with high-quality cream-coloured leather and the carpets handcrafted with soft wool.

The large aftermarket Webasto electric sunroof grants exceptional brightness to the cabin and an unrivaled view to all passengers.

At the wheel we can appreciate the great flexibility and quietness of the six-cylinder engine, enjoying the excellent visibility allowed by the large windows and the balanced and smooth road holding.

The dashboard, enriched with precious chrome-plated inserts, houses large knobs for the auxiliary services in a central position and an instrument panel finished with great accuracy, with large circular gauges framed by the beautiful two-spoke steering wheel.

The gearbox lever on the steering wheel allows three passengers to be accommodated on the soft adjustable front couch and the plush carpeting helps to bestow great refinement to the environment.

With the roof open, leaning comfortably on the ample seats and surrounded by finishes of great charm, the experience for driver and passengers is truly extraordinary and it is no wonder that even today the Flaminia is the chosen ride for the President of the Italian Republic in the most important events.

Still largely presented with its elegant and distinctive original Blu Lancia paint, which makes it look even more majestic, imposing and impressive, this car underwent a conservative restoration, which involved the elimination of the most deteriorated panels, replaced with new metal, and the sandblasting and repainting of some surfaces.

The current appearance is that of an original car preserved with the utmost care and scrupulously maintained, with some slight dents and cracks on the front fenders but in overall very good condition.

Brilliant brightwork shines on the elegant restored grille and on the windows' and windshield's frames. Headlights, windows, emblems and lettering in excellent condition complete a picture of great charm, with the peculiar trim that connects the belt-line with the rear fins and with the beautiful original wheel covers.

All the restoration operations have been meticulously documented with numerous photographs.

The mechanics of the Flaminia are a direct evolution of those of the previous Lancia Aurelia, with the legendary 2.5-litre 60° V-six engine, the first mass-produced V6, and a refined transaxle transmission system, in which the clutch, gearbox and differential are grouped in a single block at the rear of the car to improve weight distribution.

The mechanics of this prestigious sedan were recently fine-tuned and are in a good state of efficiency.

The braking system has been overhauled and adopts new calipers with stainless steel cylinders ' Duplex' master cylinder and brake booster pump are new, as are the front wheel bearings, the drive shaft support bearing, the timing chain and the front and rear oil seals of the engine. The front damper flywheel has been overhauled.

A Bendix electric petrol pump was also installed.

The engine radiator and the heating radiators have been overhauled and the carburettor has been entrusted to the care of a well-known specialist.

The car underwent further maintenance before being put on sale with replacement of engine oil, oil filter and petrol filters.

All the interventions have been photographically documented.

SUMMARY

Imposing, elegant and luxurious, the Flaminia is one of the most prestigious sedans ever built in Italy, still much respected and admired today.

Extremely rare due to its high price, large engine size and generous dimensions, it was produced in a small number of examples, very few of which have remained in good condition today.

The conservative restoration of this beautiful example has preserved with commendable care and with great respect as many original components as possible, erasing the damages of time and returning the car to its original splendour, while retaining a fascinating patina of authenticity.

The interior has received a great deal of attention and is presented in excellent condition, allowing us to fully relive its original luxury and very high quality.

This Flaminia, lovingly tuned, will certainly attract the attention of the most competent enthusiasts of the Lancia brand and will be greatly admired at every event in which it will take part.
